Job Title: Student Worker - Front Desk Assistant, Events Support

Job Description:
The front desk assistant serves as the first point of contact for the Honors College Dean's Office, providing welcoming and professional assistance to students, faculty, staff and visitors. This role primarily involves greeting guests, answering phones, and directing inquiries to the appropriate staff. The front desk assistant also provides support for Honors College events as needed. Must be an Honors College student!
Key Responsibilities:
Front Desk and Administrative Support (primary focus)
- Greet and direct students, faculty, and visitors who come to the Dean's office
- Answer, screen, and route incoming calls
- Respond to general inquiries in person, by phone, or by email, and direct more complex questions to appropriate staff
- Maintain a tidy, organized, and welcoming reception area
- Assist with basic administrative tasks
- Monitor and distribute incoming mail or deliveries as needed
- Check work room supplies often
Event Support (secondary focus)
- Assist with logistics for Honors College events, such as info sessions, receptions, and student engagement programs
- Help with event setup and breakdown, materials preparation, and day-of support
- Support event communications, such as RSVP tracking or reminder emails, when requested
- Assist with light event promotion (e.g., posting flyers, updating event signage)
Qualifications
- Currently Honors College enrolled student in good academic standing
- Friendly, professional demeanor with strong communication skills
- Reliable, punctual, and able to maintain confidentiality
- Comfortable answering phones and interacting with a wide range of people
- Basic proficiency with email, Microsoft Office/Google Workspace
- Ability to multitask and stay organized during busy periods
- Prior front desk, customer service, or event experience a plus, but not required
Hours: 10-12 hrs/weekm with flexibility around class schedule
Some availability include (but not limited to):
Monday/Friday: 12-2:30pm, Tuesday/Thursday: 8-11am, 1-3:30pm, Wednesday 9:30-11am (Fall 2026- adjusted each semester)
