verope is seeking a highly skilled Mechanical Engineer to support customer-facing technical solutions for high-performance steel wire ropes used in construction, mining, steel mills, and offshore applications. This role combines deep technical expertise with real-world application support, requiring a strong understanding of rope behavior, system interaction, and field performance.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

· Technical support to distributors and end users for wire rope selection, application design, and performance optimization.

· Technical support to internal team members, sales, and production.

· Support customers with technical presentations, training, and on-site troubleshooting.

· Internal quality control, which includes but is not limited to incoming inventory control, outgoing product control, and end fitting quality control.

· Assist in the development of technical documentation and guidelines.

· End terminations certification, training, and testing.

· Ability to communicate complex technical concepts to both engineers and non-technical personnel.

· Perform wire rope inspections on cranes and lifting equipment at elevated heights.

· Periodic travel to construction sites and customers across North America.

· Conduct wire rope failure analyses, onsite wire rope inspections, and root cause investigations.

· Capable of using tools such as hammers, pliers, screw drivers, calipers, power drills, wrenches, etc.

· Capable of lifting 40+ lbs.

· Overseeing production machine maintenance and compliance with standards.

· Evaluating drawings and assessing different scenarios with an engineering mindset.

· Hands-on assistance with production to further develop the understanding of verope wire rope products and assemblies.

· Learning verope product portfolio and understanding the real-world utilization of the product.

· Understanding verope manufacturing process.

· Contribute to team efforts by accomplishing tasks on time.

Mechanical Engineer Education Requirements, Experience, and Licensure

· Experience in the heavy lift and rigging industry is a plus, but not required.

· Field experiences supporting cranes or other lifting equipment is a plus, but not required.

· Willingness to travel up to 40% for site inspections, customer support, and field analysis.

· A state driver’s License and a passport are required.

· Able to commute daily to and from work (Hitchcock, TX).

Reporting Structure

The engineer will report directly to the Quality and Service Engineer and work closely with the production, sales, and verope global technical customer service team.

Performance Expectations

The engineer is expected to develop a well-rounded understanding of both the practical and technical aspects of wire rope applications. This includes building hands-on proficiency through field and warehouse work – such as building wire rope assemblies, inspections, end fitting installations, and interaction with crane and lifting systems to gain working knowledge of verope products.

In parallel, the role requires continuous development of technical expertise in an office environment, including rope recommendations, rope characteristics, application, and daily operations.
