Join CEDA as an Energy Efficiency Technician!

Salary: $22.023 - $25.91/hour
CEDA (Community and Economic Development Association) is a dynamic nonprofit on a mission to empower communities and fight poverty. We are looking for an Energy Efficiency Technician to accurately compile comprehensive information about residential structures under the supervision of a certified Energy Auditor.
What You'll Do
Understand and comply with all Illinois Home Weatherization Assistance Program (IHWAP) compliance requirements, regulations, policies, and procedures, as well as all CEDA internal and operational procedures.
Perform a home verification prior to the completion of an energy audit. Home verifications include client education about the IHWAP program; visual inspections for health, safety, and program eligibility; minimal data collection; categorization of the building; and more.
Assist a certified Energy Auditor with the following:
Conduct diagnostic testing, baseload evaluations, and building diagnostic tests such as combustion safety, efficiency, pressure diagnostics, and HVAC assessments.
Complete production documentation including, but not limited to, mileage, time records, gas receipts, and assessment documentation.
Accurately document maps, site plans, dimensions, test set-ups, and data for entry into energy modeling software.
Work responsibly to protect the health and safety of clients, homes, contractors, and CEDA staff.
Perform other duties as assigned.

What We're Looking ForRequired Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent (GED).
Must be certified by the State of Illinois or become certified after participating in training provided by the State of Illinois and CEDA within one year of employment.
This position operates in the field up to 90% of the time. Working conditions vary throughout the year and may include extreme heat, high humidity, damp or wet conditions, and extreme cold.
Must have a valid driver's license, a clean driving record, and auto insurance that meets State requirements.
Frequent travel is required throughout the City of Chicago and suburban Cook County.
Hands-on construction and field experience, including experience working with energy modeling software.
Knowledge of standards and practices related to construction, architecture, electrical systems, mechanical systems, energy systems, facilities, and HVAC.
Experience in construction, energy efficiency, building maintenance, and state/federal compliance.
Experience with the weatherization process, State of Illinois regulations, and DOE energy rules and requirements.
Related Building Performance certifications and experience.
