Job description

Team members work closely with clients, carriers, and other stakeholders to deliver practical, business-oriented legal solutions. Role Description

  • This is a full-time hybrid role for a Coverage and Bad Faith Litigator based in Glendale, CA, with some flexibility for work from home

  • The attorney will handle a caseload of insurance coverage and bad faith matters from initial evaluation through resolution, including drafting coverage opinions, dispositive motions, and pleadings.

  • Day-to-day responsibilities include taking and defending depositions, preparing discovery, appearing in court for law and motion hearings, and assisting with all phases of trial preparation and trial.

  • The role involves analyzing policies and claim files, assessing risk and exposure, advising clients and carriers on strategy, and participating in mediation, arbitration, and settlement negotiations.

  • The attorney will collaborate with partners, associates, and staff, while managing deadlines and maintaining clear, timely communication with clients and colleagues.


Qualifications

  • Strong foundation in insurance coverage and bad faith law, including policy interpretation and application of governing statutes and case law.

  • Experience drafting and arguing motions and other substantive briefing in state and/or federal courts.

  • Familiarity with court procedures, rules of civil procedure, and practice before trial and appellate courts.

  • Hands-on experience with depositions, including taking and defending party, witness, and expert depositions.

  • Trial-related skills, such as assisting with trial preparation, developing witness examinations, and supporting or handling portions of trial.

  • Active California Bar membership in good standing.

  • Excellent legal research, writing, and analytical abilities, with strong attention to detail and organization.

  • Ability to manage a litigation docket independently, meet deadlines, and communicate clearly with clients and team members.

  • Prior experience in insurance defense, coverage, or bad faith litigation is preferred.
