Job description

Registered Nurse (RN) – Primary Care

Overview: Aptive Resources is hiring Primary Care Registered Nurses to provide direct and indirect nursing care to Veterans at the Dayton VA Medical Center.

Location: On-Site | Dayton VA Medical Center, 4100 W. 3rd St., Dayton, OH 45417 Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00am–4:30pm | No federal holidays Employment Type: Full-Time Contract Contract Period: 8/1/2026–7/31/2027 (+ Option Year)


Responsibilities:

  • Conduct patient assessments and develop nursing care plans
  • Administer medications and IV therapies; document in EHR
  • Carry out and document physician orders
  • Monitor vital signs, interpret cardiac rhythms, respond to emergencies
  • Educate patients and families on medications, procedures, and discharge planning
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary PACT team
  • Participate in daily huddles, weekly calls, and quality improvement activities

Qualifications:

  • Graduate of an ACEN- or CCNE-accredited nursing program
  • Current, active Ohio RN license
  • Current BLS certification; ACLS required if assigned to specialty clinic
  • Minimum 1 year direct patient care within the last 3 years; VA experience preferred
  • Must pass background investigation (Tier 1/Low Risk); PIV card required
  • Must complete required VA mandatory training prior to start
