Job Summary: The Tower Technician II is responsible for performing advanced installation, maintenance, and repair of wireless communication towers and related infrastructure.  This role requires the ability to work at elevated heights up to 500 feet, lead tasks on job sites, and mentor less experienced technicians.  This position demonstrates increased technical proficiency and plays a key role in ensuring project safety, quality, and timely completion.  

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 
•    Climb and perform work on communication towers and elevated structures up to 500 feet
•    Install, test, and maintain antennas, radios, lines, connectors, and mounts 
•    Lead or assist in the assembly of various types of structures, including monopoles, self-support towers, and guyed towers 
•    Use hand and power tools for tasks at both ground and elevated levels 
•    Perform advanced tasks such as weatherproofing, fiber testing, and other various testing 
•    Maintain and inspect rigging equipment and ensure safe hoisting practices 
•    Develop the ability to interpret construction drawings, RF datasheets, and scopes of work 
•    Follow Company and industry safety practices, including proper use of fall protection equipment 
•    Accurately complete timecards, safety checklists, and other documentation
•    Maintain and organize tools, equipment, and vehicles
•    Maintain a clean and organized job site, ensuring all tools, materials, and waste are properly handled and disposed of 
•    Train and mentor less experienced team members 
•    Travel regularly to job sites, which may include overnight stays 
•    Other duties as assigned

Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty mentioned satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and/or ability required.

Education: High school diploma, general education degree (G.E.D.), or related trade school education

Experience: 
•    One to two years of experience in wireless tower construction or maintenance 
•    Demonstrated ability to work at heights and perform tower work safely and efficiently 
•    Experience leading portions of projects or working independently on site 
•    Competent Climber/Rescue Certification from an accredited institution 
•    Must have or obtain and maintain OSHA 10 Construction Training Card (OSHA 30 preferred) 
•    Must have or obtain and maintain First Aid and CPR Certification
•    Other relevant certifications may be required  per the scope of work being performed (i.e. Hazcom Certification, Blood Born Pathogen Certification, RF Safety Certification etc.) 

Technical Skills:
•    Computer and Microsoft Office proficiency 
•    Proficient in the use of hand and power tools 
•    Ability to use sweep testing equipment and other diagnostic tools 
•    Competence with GPS, test equipment, and site audit tools

Soft Skills:
•    Consistently demonstrates reliability, punctuality, and a strong commitment to completing work safely, efficiently, and to a high standard of quality 
•    Works effectively with crew members and foreman; supports a positive and collaborative work environment 
•    Follows safety protocols and installation procedures with accuracy and care, and encourages others to do the same
•    Identifies and communicates issues clearly with team members 
•    Maintains awareness of surroundings and safety risks while working at heights and with heavy equipment 
•    Supports continuous improvement and identifies areas for process enhancement 

Physical Requirements: 
•    Must be able to pass pre-employment screening that includes background and drug testing
•    Must have a valid driver’s license and a driving record that meets Company requirements
•    Ability to climb vertically and pull one’s own body weight, along with necessary tools and equipment, up to 500 feet, and perform work at heights on towers and other elevated structures for extended periods
•    Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 75 pounds regularly 
•    Ability to stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, reach, and grasp materials and tools with both hands
•    Ability to work long hours in outdoor environments, including extreme weather conditions such as heat, cold, rain, wind, or snow 
•    Ability to stand, walk, and perform physically demanding tasks for extended periods of time 
•    Ability to wear the required personal protective equipment (PPE), including fall protection harness, hard hat, safety glasses, and gloves 
•    Ability to climb and work at heights while wearing a safety harness, maintaining a total combined weight (which includes body weight, clothing, equipment, and tools) between 130 pounds and 310 pounds in accordance with industry fall protection standards
•    Must be physically and mentally fit to perform tower rescues and participate in safety drills and training exercises 
•    Comfortable working in confined spaces and at varying elevations 
•    Ability to work long and unpredictable hours 
•    Ability to travel away from home up to 75% of the time, including weekends and extended travel. Travel includes local site travel or national travel depending on business needs.
