About this opportunity:
The Engineering Design Director is a skilled leader with extensive RAN engineering and network operations expertise. This role involves directing Engineering Design activities, including generating Radio Frequency design (prediction, RFDS, CIQ) and transport design from customer inputs and Digital Twin data. Responsibilities include ensuring high-quality work and adherence to engineering standards, managing outcomes as reflected in customer scorecards, and maintaining strategic relationships with customers, vendors, and stakeholders within MANA. The position requires overseeing all RAN design-related engineering and operational activities within MANA, ensuring alignment with company objectives and industry standards. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in RAN engineering, strategic planning, and team leadership.
What you will do:
  • Operational Leadership, Direct and manage all engineering operational activities within the regions, including network operations, service delivery, and offshore teams, ensuring that they are executed effectively and within the cost structure outlined in the business case.
  • Responsible for leading a team of engineers during RF planning and Design services for all customers in US, Canada and LATAM for small cells and macro solutions.
  • Responsible for leading a team of transport engineers during transport design (IP, Microwave and Optical) and deployment for all customers in US, Canada and LATAM.
  • Make decisions on design tool utilization and associated costs (MapInfo, Google Earth, ATOLL, and ESDT)
  • Attending and hosting meetings regarding design changes and upgrades.
  • Supports engineers in project creation and task completion to support the network project build plan.
  • Assist business development manager with market penetration strategies and provide support for proposals & technical presentations to prospective customers. Lead senior level direct reports in performing the product management/business development area to senior level direct reports.
  • Supporting department cost center financial targets, maintaining group and individual utilization/billability targets, and leading all aspects of project execution and account interface responsibilities assigned to the group.
  • Presenting and deploying company policies, directives, and strategies applicable to the Engineering group
  • Participate in employee development planning and competence build up based on market direction and technology changes resources dimensioning and resource planning.
  • Having an "automation first" mindset in all our solutions and seek out opportunities for using new technologies to improve our solutions such as cloud native and infrastructure as code to drive innovation that enables us to make our solutions secure and minimize impact.
  • Create a strong collaborative team environment that focuses on safety and career development of employees.

The skills you bring:
  • Bachelor's degree, preferably in Engineering, Computer Science, IT or other science disciplines.
  • At least 8 years of experience in the telecommunications industry.
  • Good understanding of Business, Operations, Finance, and Processes.
  • Proven track record in achieving business targets.
  • Technical competence in Engineering disciplines including network dimensioning, link-budget analysis, propagation analysis, frequency & capacity management, drive testing data analysis, network optimization, network quality auditing, network acceptance.
  • Understanding of transport concepts and knowledge in Ericsson IP, Microwave and Optical solutions.
  • A solid understanding of the Telecom Product and Services environment and future trends.
  • Excellent leadership skills; driven by business excellence.
  • Extensive experience in large-scale RAN Engineering projects.
  • Expertise in simple, human-friendly process flows.
  • Well-developed understanding of Construction Site Configurations, RFDS, CIQ, and BOM deliverables.
  • Strong leadership capabilities with the ability to motivate, develop, and inspire high-performing teams.
