About the Role....

  • Intro
  • Integer Technologies is seeking a Battery Manufacturing Engineer reporting to the Industry 4.0 Engineering Manager within the Digital Engineering Division. This role will lead the research and development of improved design and manufacturing processes for novel energy storage technologies for defense applications.
  • Integer's products use digital engineering tools (e.g., digital twins, modeling, data analytics) to support decision-making for control and optimization of large and complex integrated defense systems. Within Integer, the Industry 4.0 team is focused applying these technologies to advanced manufacturing applications.
  • This role will focus on the development of digital engineering solutions for the manufacturing of battery systems and will require a balance of manufacturing engineering, process development, and multi-physics modeling and simulation of battery systems and production processes.
  • Objectives
  • Develop and maintain technical expertise in batteries, manufacturing, digital twin technologies, analytics, and analyses.
  • Design and develop digital twin solutions for batteries, battery manufacturing systems, components, and processes to enhance asset performance, manufacturing efficiency, and decision-making.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate digital engineering solutions with existing systems and processes.

Primary Responsibilities....

  • Serve as a hands-on subject matter expert for battery manufacturing and modeling within a collaborative research team, focusing on building innovative solutions.
  • Design and develop digital twin solutions for batteries, battery manufacturing systems, components, and processes that integrate live data streams from physical assets, hardware emulators, and simulations.
  • Architect scalable, maintainable simulation frameworks to accelerate engineering workflows by developing capabilities for rapid model exchange, model re-use, and optimized data management.
  • Partner with a cross-disciplinary research team (e.g., battery experts, mechanical modelers, control engineers) to define requirements early in the design cycle and translate complex capabilities into functional demonstrations.
  • Own end-to-end delivery from proof-of-concept demonstrations through production-grade releases, ensuring quality via testing and documented best practices.
  • Perform research, understand new concepts from other engineering disciplines on advanced and complex topics, and communicate findings to experts and non-experts alike.

Required Qualifications....

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen with the ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. DoD Secret Clearance
  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, industrial/manufacturing engineering, or a related technical discipline.
  • 5+ years of professional experience in battery design, battery development, battery manufacturing, manufacturing engineering, physics-based modeling, or a related field.
  • Strong understanding of battery systems, electrical engineering, and battery manufacturing technologies.
  • Experience working with computer modeling and simulation environments (e.g., MATLAB/Simulink, Modelica, or similar) in one of the following domains:
  • Electrical Power and Energy Systems
  • Electrochemical Systems
  • Thermal-Fluid and Cooling Systems
  • Electrical or Battery Control Systems
  • Demonstrated proficiency in project management tools and skills (e.g., setting milestones, monitoring progress, ensuring deliverables).
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills to collaborate effectively across departments.

Additional Desired Qualifications....

  • Masters or PhD in a relevant engineering or computer science discipline.
  • Knowledge of battery management systems, electrical powertrains, and battery hazard mitigation systems.
  • Experience with battery testing, validation, and certification.
  • Familiarity with industry-specific regulations and standards (e.g., ISO 26262, IEC 61508, S9310-AQ-SAF-010)
  • Experience with DevOps tools (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).
  • Experience with real-time simulation platforms (e.g., OpalRT, Typhoon HIL, Speedgoat).
  • Experience with simulation solver technologies and numerical integration methods.
  • Experience with machine learning frameworks (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch) or numerical optimization methods.
  • Experience with front-end development for data visualization.
  • Experience with industrial controls, automation, and database systems.
