Description

The Home Preservation Project Manager oversees all aspects of owner-occupied repair projects-from initial assessment through completion. This role ensures projects are delivered on time, on budget, and to quality standards, while fostering a safe and inclusive environment for homeowners, staff, volunteers, and subcontractors.


Core Responsibilities


Project Planning and Execution

  • Conduct home assessments, develop scopes of work, cost estimates, and schedules.
  • Forecasting third-party activities to help achieve annual team goals.
  • Ensure that all required paperwork is on file for contractors we are working with.
  • Work with Home Preservation Navigator to understand specifically the family's needs.
  • Work with internal staff for any grant reporting and tracking needs.
  • Help ensure that Home Preservation procurement is in line with applicable funding standards.
  • Help Home Preservation team in developing new processes and offerings to better serve our homeowners

Purchasing / Procurement

  •  Initiate and oversee bid process for materials and/or subcontractors for assigned projects.
  • Maintain listing of active contractors, contact information etc. by trade.
  • Utilize current project management system(s) for bidding and procurement process.
  • Approve vendor / subcontractor invoicing.
  • Track project budgets and expenses and monitor for cost control opportunities.
  • Assist in procuring needed supplies to support event activities as needed.

Management

  • Monitor third party projects for timely completion. 
  • Implement and manage quality assurance processes that ensure program is compliant with funding requirements. 
  • Annually review contractors for bidding process and growing the number of contractors to support our growth. 
  • Manage annual Rock the Block events and all activities associated with field work/volunteers. 

Requirements

  • Adhere to a policy of open communication and inclusive atmosphere.
  • College degree in related field preferred.
  • Three or more years of experience in construction planning and working with people.
  • Understands and believes in the Habitat for Humanity philosophy.
  • Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills a must.
  • Self-starter and ability to work independently without supervision.
  • Speak and hear to give and receive detailed information through verbal communication in person, using the telephone, using email and/or at community meetings; exchange ideas and convey detailed information accurately to staff, volunteers, and others.
  • Able to lift 40 pounds.
  • Always promotes the highest level of professionalism and ethics.
  • Demonstrates the ability to use commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures within the field.
  • Convey clear, concise information to others, using verbal or other appropriate communication techniques.
  • Complete formal training plan and assignments as required.
  • Treat others in a nondiscriminatory, lawful and ethical manner, respecting the differences among people, and the value they bring to GDMHFH.
