Job Description The Reactor Physics organization is looking for an experienced nuclear engineer or physicist to become a valued member of a team of expert reactor physics methods developers. This team is responsible for the development and maintenance of reactor physics methods and software tools used in reactor design and analysis, criticality safety, and radiation shielding for the Naval Nuclear Propulsion Program (NNPP). In this role, you will collaborate with a diverse group of NNPP specialists to create methods and implement software that enhances the analytical capabilities of the NNPP's reactor physics operations. The team's responsibilities include: • Understanding the needs of the reactor physics community and identifying novel methods or implementations to address those needs • Interfacing with reactor designers, nuclear analysists, and specialists in related disciplines to verify and validate new methods or software • Ensuring software and methods are consistent with the high standards of quality required for reactor design applications, • Deploying and maintaining production reactor physics software to meet the needs of the Naval Nuclear Propulsion Program. • Contributing and staying current with the state of the art through novel research, publication in Journals, and participation in national and international conferences. The subject matter areas in which the team's expertise is leveraged include: • Monte Carlo Transport • Deterministic Transport • Fine Mesh and Nodal Diffusion • Multigroup Cross Section Development • Depletion and Decay Heat • Reactor Kinetics Required Combination of Knowledge and Skill Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university in a related engineering or science field and a minimum of 4 years of relevant experience; or Masters degree from an accredited college or university in a related engineering or science field and a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience; or Doctorate degree from an accredited college or university in a related engineering or science field; or Currently an Advanced Reactor Training Engineer, Refueling Engineer, or Field (RPCO) Engineer at the Company.
