Job Description

RESPEC seeks an experienced Senior Civil Project Engineer for our Anchorage, AK location. You will work directly with clients and collaborate with team members to design innovative solutions to diverse challenges in Alaska. Our Land Development team works on a wide variety of site and infrastructure design projects from inception through planning, design, and support of construction efforts for a wide variety of public- and private-sector clients all across the state of Alaska. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead civil design for land development projects including site grading, roadway layout, stormwater management, and utility infrastructure
  • Prepare and review engineering plans, technical reports, specifications, and cost estimates
  • Coordinate with clients, permitting agencies, and internal teams to ensure project success
  • Manage project scopes, budgets, schedules, and deliverables
  • Mentor EITs and junior staff, fostering technical growth and professional development
  • Support business development through proposal writing and client engagement
  • Present designs in public forums and client meetings as needed.
Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET-accredited program
  • Alaska PE license (or ability to obtain within 12 months)
  • 10+ years of experience in civil/site development, preferably in Alaska or cold regions
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D and Microsoft Office Suite
  • Proficiency in editing Specifications
  • Strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills
  • Demonstrates ability to inspire, motivate, and manage a team
  • Experience managing multidisciplinary teams and multiple concurrent projects.

Preferred:

  • 5+ years Alaska residency
  • Ability to train, mentor, and lead others
  • Project management expertise and/or PMP certification
  • AutoCAD and Civil 3D proficiency
  • GIS experience and familiarity with permitting processes (e.g., ADEC, municipal codes)
  • Knowledge of sustainable site design and low-impact development practices
  • Experience with subdivision design, commercial site planning, and public infrastructure.
