Summary of Job Duties:This position will work under the supervision and direction of the HLA laboratory supervisor. Medical Laboratory Scientists I in the HLA laboratory perform a variety of technical procedures including HLA typing by rSSO and next generation sequencing methods, Luminex based HLA Antibody identification, and donor/recipient flow cytometric cross-matching.
Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Medical Laboratory Science, Medical Technology, Chemistry, or Biology.
  • ASCP or another accrediting agency certified or eligible (Certification must be obtained within one year of employment).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in Medical Laboratory Sciences
  • ASCP Certified
  • Previous HLA experience


Additional Information:

Job Requirements:

  • They are expected to keep all instrumentation in good working order and identify and notify the supervisor or lead tech of instrument malfunctions.
  • They should be able to aid in instrument repair.
  • They should be able to identify abnormal or discrepant results.
  • They will have limited participation in student teaching and assisting of other personnel rotating through the section.
  • They will have limited administrative duties.
