Job Summary:

As the Field Inspector, you will ultimately be responsible for inspecting telecommunications construction projects, verifying compliance with engineering and construction standards, and documenting field activities. You will conduct field inspections, coordinate with construction personnel and contractors, and deliver accurate reporting to support quality project execution. As the Field Inspector, your customers are construction managers, field personnel, contractors, clients, and telecommunications providers, and you will make meaningful contributions to the company's success through quality assurance, regulatory compliance, and accurate field documentation.

Key Responsibilities (Including, but not limited to):

  • Travel daily to assigned project locations and conduct field inspections
  • Inspect cable placement, fiber placement, fiber splicing, and telecommunications construction work performed by field personnel and subcontractors
  • Verify work complies with engineering standards, construction specifications, and customer requirements
  • Document inspection findings and prepare detailed field reports
  • Attend field meetings with construction personnel, contractors, subcontractors, and government agencies
  • Operate and maintain field equipment including laptops, iPads, height sticks, cameras, and personal protective equipment (PPE)
  • Perform invoicing activities and manage subcontractor work orders as assigned
  • Maintain accurate project documentation and inspection records
  • Additional responsibilities within functional scope based on business needs

Required Qualifications:

Education, Licensing, and Certifications

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Valid driver's license with a clean Motor Vehicle Record (MVR)
  • OSHA 30 Certification required
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check

Experience

  • Experience inspecting telecommunications construction projects preferred
  • Extensive knowledge of outside plant (OSP) and inside plant (ISP) telecommunications engineering standards, construction practices, and blueprint interpretation
  • Experience working with telecommunications construction contractors and field operations preferred

Skills and Abilities

  • Strong knowledge of OSP and ISP telecommunications engineering standards and construction techniques
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and blueprints
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat, Google Earth, and proprietary software applications
  • Ability to edit documents, upload project files, and maintain electronic records
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
  • Ability to work independently while maintaining effective communication with field personnel and project teams
  • Ability to work flexible schedules including nights, weekends, holidays, and on-call assignments as needed
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and documentation accuracy

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience supporting broadband or telecommunications construction projects
  • Experience with field inspection reporting and construction quality assurance
  • Experience working with utility contractors and government agencies

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to travel daily to assigned job sites
  • Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions
  • Ability to work in confined spaces and at elevated heights including poles, ladders, and hydraulic lift buckets
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, squat, climb, push, pull, twist, and perform physically demanding activities for extended periods
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to work safely around heavy equipment and machinery while wearing required personal protective equipment (PPE)
