What are the four different types of FDA inspections?

The four main types of FDA inspections are routine inspections, for scheduled review of manufacturing facilities; for-cause inspections, triggered by specific concerns or complaints; follow-up inspections, to verify corrective actions; and pre-approval inspections, conducted before approving new drugs or devices. As an FDA inspector, understanding these types helps in preparing for different inspection scenarios and ensuring compliance with regulations.

How do I become an FDA inspector?

To become an FDA inspector, candidates typically need a bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as biology, chemistry, or food science, along with experience in food safety, pharmaceuticals, or related areas. Applicants must pass a background check and may need to complete specialized training provided by the FDA. Certification or licensing is not required, but strong knowledge of regulatory standards and inspection procedures is essential.
