Job description

Are you ready to bring your architectural expertise to the enchanting world of Disney? As a Licensed Architect at Walt Disney's Facilities Asset Management (FAM), you'll touch every aspect of our theme parks and resorts, from concept to delivery of the breathtaking environments our guests adore. We’re looking for professionals who crave diverse experiences, who are eager to learn and who are confident they can maintain the exacting standards for which The Walt Disney Company is loved.

This position is an individual contributor role with no direct reports and will report to the Senior Manager – Design Integration at Walt Disney’s Facilities Asset Management.

What You Will Do
  • Support the Facilities Asset Management organization’s project management team by coordinating the efforts of the FAM Design team with allied partners such as Disney Cruise Line, Creative, Show/Ride, and Operations.
  • Provide technical support in the architecture discipline, with a focus on building facades/envelopes and roof systems.
  • Investigate building envelope integrity to identify root cause and provide appropriate recommendations to mitigate through the development of proper scope.
  • Provide support to the project management team throughout the life of the project by ensuring design excellence, strategic recommendations and options.
  • Prepare Facility/Attraction base information documentation (e.g. existing condition descriptions).
  • Develop and execute strategies, utilizing partnerships with stakeholders, to ensure seamless execution of facilities renovation projects.
  • Write detailed scopes for work and provide RFPs to hire consultants that provide a full range of design and construction administration services.
  • Support implementation of project goals through the development of design solutions while ensuring adherence to department/divisional Standards of Practice.
  • Introduce innovative design concepts and sustainable solutions to improve the guest experience.
  • Clearly communicate architectural concepts, project status, and recommendations to facilitate decision-making at the highest levels.
Required Qualifications & Skills
  • Registered Architect in the State of Florida or registered Architect in another State and meeting all qualifications for registration as an architect in the State of Florida.
  • 7+ years working in an architectural practice.
  • Construction phase experience including the submittal/shop drawing review process and on-site field inspections.
  • Building envelope inspection/assessment experience.
  • Experience with roofing systems and maintenance.
  • Experience specifying and detailing building materials and products for thematic applications.
  • Proficiency in CADD and BIM (Revit and AutoCAD).
  • Demonstrate technical knowledge of architectural design and construction techniques.
  • Knowledge of area development-related areas, including landscape architecture, land planning, civil engineering, site lighting, and/or graphic design.
  • Experience in a client-facing role within the architectural industry.
  • Outstanding presentation skills, including the ability to communicate complex ideas to executives and other key decision-makers.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Solid understanding of Disney theme parks and storytelling through area development; pursue deeper knowledge of Disney traditions, history, and theme parks globally through Disney educational opportunities and study (themed environments or architecture in an entertainment organization).
  • Membership in one or more professional organizations such as the American Institute of Architects, Urban Land Institute, Construction Specifications Institute, or U.S. Green Building Council.
  • Experience working with digital illustration tools such as Maya, Rhino, Photoshop, Illustrator, or SketchUp.
  • Familiarity with facility management and operations.
  • Familiarity with forensic building inspections.
  • Experience developing strategies of building elements based on industry standards and best practices.
  • Master of Architecture, Urban Planning, or Landscape Architecture from an accredited program is preferred.
Education
  • Bachelor of Architecture degree from an accredited program is required.
  • U.S. Professional License credential is required.

The hiring range for this position in Florida is $100,100.00-$134,200.00 per year. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
