Payment Processor
Location: Fairbanks, AK
Pay: $23.00/hour
Schedule: Full-Time | Monday–Friday | 8:00 AM–5:00 PM

If you have strong cash-handling experience and are comfortable working with payments, deposits, transaction records, and detailed financial data, this could be a great fit.

This full-time office position is heavily focused on cash handling and back-office payment processing. Responsibilities include processing cash, check, card, and electronic payments; preparing bank deposits; balancing transactions; researching payment discrepancies; and maintaining accurate account and payment records.

Accuracy is critical in this role. The ideal candidate is comfortable handling money, working with numbers and spreadsheets, following established financial procedures, and catching discrepancies before they become problems. Candidates with strong cash-handling and financial transaction experience may be especially well suited for this role.

Key Responsibilities
  • Process cash, check, credit/debit card, and electronic payments
  • Prepare daily bank deposits and maintain accurate transaction records
  • Balance cash activity and research discrepancies or payment exceptions
  • Process electronic payment batches, remittances, refunds, and related transactions
  • Research and correct rejected, incomplete, or improperly posted payments
  • Maintain and update member account and payment information
  • Enter and verify financial data using Excel and internal software systems
  • Assist with specialized payment, refund, and account-processing activities
  • Maintain organized electronic documentation and financial records
  • Respond to limited account-related inquiries and provide administrative support as needed
  • Perform other related duties as assigned

Minimum Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Two years of cash-handling experience required
  • Two years of customer service experience in a service-related environment
  • Ability to accurately type at least 45 words per minute
  • Proficiency with 10-key
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Strong accuracy and attention to detail when handling financial transactions and data
  • Ability to organize and prioritize multiple processing deadlines
  • Ability to learn and work within proprietary internal software systems
  • Ability to obtain a State of Alaska Notary commission
  • Background screening is a part of the hiring process.
  • Support a drug free work environment.
Preferred Experience
Experience in banking, bank teller operations, cash offices, payment processing, credit/collections, accounting, utilities, or legal environments is helpful. An associate degree in Business, Accounting, or a related field is also preferred.
