Job description

Make a Difference in a Young Person’s Life

Home Court Advantage is looking for caring, dependable, and patient Direct Support Staff to join our team and make a meaningful difference in the lives of youth in residential treatment.

As a Direct Support Staff member, you will work directly with residents in a structured, home-like environment, providing supervision, encouragement, guidance, and day-to-day support. You’ll help residents develop life skills, make positive choices, manage behaviors, and build the confidence they need to successfully transition back into their families and communities.

This is a hands-on role for someone who genuinely enjoys working with youth and wants to be part of their progress—not just someone looking for a job.

What You'll Do

  • Provide consistent supervision, support, and positive guidance to youth in a residential setting
  • Build trusting, professional relationships with residents while maintaining appropriate boundaries
  • Assist residents with daily routines, personal responsibilities, and life skills
  • Encourage positive social interactions, communication, emotional regulation, and decision-making
  • Reinforce behavioral expectations and use appropriate behavioral management techniques
  • Help maintain a safe, structured, supportive, and home-like environment
  • Participate in recreational, educational, and therapeutic activities with residents
  • Recognize and respond appropriately to behavioral and emotional needs
  • Assist residents during challenging situations using patience, de-escalation, and trauma-informed approaches
  • Document behaviors, activities, incidents, and other information as required
  • Communicate effectively with other members of the treatment team
  • Support individualized treatment goals and help residents develop skills for greater independence
  • Serve as a positive role model through consistency, patience, and compassion

What We're Looking For

The ideal candidate is someone who is:

  • Caring, compassionate, and patient
  • Comfortable working with youth who may have behavioral, developmental, or emotional challenges
  • Energetic and willing to actively participate in activities with residents
  • Dependable and able to maintain a consistent routine
  • A strong communicator and team player
  • Comfortable remaining calm and professional during challenging situations
  • Able to set appropriate boundaries while building positive relationships
  • Willing to learn and apply behavioral management and trauma-informed techniques

Minimum Requirements

  • 21 years of age or older
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Valid state-issued identification
  • Valid Social Security Card or Birth Certificate
  • Reliable transportation
  • Ability to pass required state background checks
  • Ability to meet physical requirements of the position

Why Work at Home Court Advantage?

At Home Court Advantage, our goal is simple: make a difference where kids meet their true potential. We believe in focusing on individual strengths, teaching new skills, maintaining dignity, and creating an environment where residents feel safe, supported, and cared for.

Benefits include:

  • Health Insurance
  • Paid Time Off
  • Flexible Scheduling
  • Meaningful, hands-on work with youth
  • Opportunity to make a lasting impact in your community
