Field Service Engineer
Location: Reno, Nevada 89501
Pay: $65,000–$88,000
Hire Type: Direct Hire
Travel: Primarily within 50 miles of the Revo area, with overnight travel as needed

We are seeking a hands-on Field Service Engineer to install, troubleshoot, repair, and optimize advanced automated manufacturing equipment at customer sites. This role is ideal for a mechanically and electrically skilled professional who enjoys problem-solving, working directly with customers, and supporting complex equipment in the field.

Travel is primarily within the Reno territory, with occasional overnight travel. Employees use their personal vehicle for local travel and receive mileage reimbursement. A rental vehicle is provided for longer-distance assignments. Employees traveling more than 150 miles from home receive a $70/day meal per diem. Travel completed on a weekend is compensated with a $250 stipend. Some weekend work may be required based on customer needs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Install, configure, commission, and start up automated equipment at customer facilities.
  • Perform equipment retrofits, upgrades, and custom modifications.
  • Diagnose and resolve mechanical, electrical, software, and process-related equipment issues.
  • Provide onsite and remote technical support to minimize customer downtime.
  • Read and interpret electrical schematics, mechanical drawings, and system diagrams.
  • Train customer operators and maintenance personnel on equipment operation, troubleshooting, and preventive maintenance.
  • Advise customers on process optimization, equipment reliability, and best maintenance practices.
  • Document service activity, technical findings, repairs, and customer feedback through detailed service reports.
  • Partner with internal technical and engineering teams to resolve advanced equipment issues.
  • Provide remote support from a home office when not assigned to a customer site.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field preferred; equivalent technical education, military training, or relevant experience will be considered.
  • Experience servicing industrial automation, manufacturing equipment, SMT equipment, or similar machinery.
  • Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting, repair, and preventive maintenance experience.
  • Ability to interpret electrical schematics and mechanical drawings.
  • Comfortable working with Windows-based software, system configuration, and basic networking concepts.
  • Strong customer service, communication, and problem-solving skills.
