Analyst - Capital Markets & Risk

Capital One's Corporate Treasury is seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Analyst to join our Treasury Payments Execution (TPE) Team within Capital Markets. If you have strong leadership, analytical, problem solving, and communication skills, this is an exciting opportunity to make a significant impact.

As an Analyst, you'll play a critical role in safeguarding our payment processes by executing payment requests and managing standard settlement instructions (SSIs) across multiple payment systems and trading platforms. SSIs are vital to our operations, ensuring that funds are transferred efficiently and timely that ultimately enable critical corporate funding and other business activities. Your work in maintaining the accuracy of SSIs will be key to our success.

This role offers more than just day-to-day responsibilities; you'll gain valuable insights into various Finance functions and build a strong foundation in payments. Responsibilities:

  • Manage risks of incorrect SSIs with periodic and regular reconfirmation of counterparty settlement instructions, which includes partnering with various business stakeholders both internally and externally to verify current instructions and clean up unnecessary instructions

  • Maintain accuracy of all payment settlement instructions in payment systems and trading platforms used in FinanceReview and approve any changes to current instructions or addition of new counterparties

  • Engage with internal and external stakeholders to validate the business need and accuracy of SSIs

  • Execute payment requests accurately and efficiently

  • Manage risks of incorrect payments by ensuring team processes are governed by enhanced controls that meet updated payment standards

  • Support the implementation and adherence to standardized procedures and controls for all SSIs across Finance

  • Coordinate with Finance Risk Management and other risk offices on best payment practices Reduce operational exceptions and drive efficiencies via automation, elimination, and transfer of processes away from manual touchpoints

  • Assist with ad-hoc projects as necessary

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree or military experience

  • At least 1 year of experience in Financial Analysis, Financial Operations, Financial Reporting, or Risk Management

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 2+ years of experience working in Capital Markets

  • 2+ years of experience in Financial Analysis, Operations, Reporting, or Risk Management or a combination

  • High attention to detail

  • Strong communication skills

This role is hybrid meaning associates typically spend 3 days per week in-person at one of our offices listed on this job posting.

The minimum and maximum full-time annual salaries for this role are listed below, by location. Please note that this salary information is solely for candidates hired to perform work within one of these locations, and refers to the amount Capital One is willing to pay at the time of this posting. Salaries for part-time roles will be prorated based upon the agreed upon number of hours to be regularly worked.

McLean, VA: $94,700 - $108,000 for Analyst, Capital Markets & Risk











Candidates hired to work in other locations will be subject to the pay range associated with that location, and the actual annualized salary amount offered to any candidate at the time of hire will be reflected solely in the candidate's offer letter.

This role is also eligible to earn performance based incentive compensation, which may include cash bonus(es) and/or long term incentives (LTI). Incentives could be discretionary or non discretionary depending on the plan.
