Job description

Our business is growing, and we are seeking qualified applicants to fill positions providing analytical support to ongoing contracts with various federal and state customers. We're looking for someone with a strong mathematical and analytical background who has experience manipulating and analyzing data and a keen eye for generating effective data visualization and communication products (e.g., graphics, charts, spatial products, etc.). We're looking for a creative thinker and self-motivated problem solver who is a good team player and can manage their time effectively. Excellent written and oral communication skills are a must.

Job Description

The primary role of the Analyst is to support a wide array of quantitative risk assessments that result in informative analysis and work products for our customers. Tasks will include but are not limited to research, statistical analysis, modeling and simulation (i.e., data development, data loading, model execution, and analysis of model output), preparation of briefings and technical reports, and coordination and preparation for meetings. A key role of the Analyst will be the development of predictive models and analyses utilizing sparse data supplemented by open-source research. Analysts may often be required to step outside of their comfort zones and assist in other aspects of projects as well.

The sensitive nature of the data to which the analyst may be exposed requires that the candidate be of the highest moral and ethical character. Applicants will be required to pass a robust background investigation and must be eligible to obtain a government-sponsored clearance prior to working on certain projects, as necessary.

Summary of Duties and Responsibilities

  • Conduct statistical and econometric analysis and modeling, including generating variables (e.g., spatial, temporal or example), exact or fuzzy matching, or running simulations
  • Execute models and conduct detailed analysis, often in a geo-spatial environment, to generate data for risk assessments and the development of decision support products
  • Research and analyze empirical datasets (e.g., clean and merge data from different data sources and generate complete datasets) and identify other/new potential data sources
  • We often deal with limited or difficult to clean data, the analyst will develop innovative solutions and approaches to solve complex problems
  • Develop products to effectively communicate results in a manner that can be understood by a range of client audiences

Required Qualifications and Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in mathematics, statistics, economics, or other STEM-related fields
  • 3-5 years of relevant work experience
  • Experience with coding or programming (e.g., VBA, R, Python, SQL - with a basic understanding of packages and functions)
  • Proficiency in MS Office, with an emphasis on Excel-based skills (mid to advanced-level) and PowerBI
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S., capable of passing a robust background investigation and meet all eligibility requirements for a government-sponsored clearance (if you do not meet the requirements, please do not apply)

Preferred Qualifications and Skills

  • Advanced degree in mathematics, statistics or data analysis
  • Geographic Information Systems (GIS) experience (e.g., ArcGIS, or QGIS - with a basic understanding of toolboxes and tools)
  • Active Security Clearance

Job Location

The Analyst will be based out of our Rockville, MD office though a hybrid working environment may be an option.
