Job description

The Opportunity

Medaica is looking for retired nurses and other former healthcare professionals to join our team as part-time Medaica Technicians, conducting guided heart exams remotely from home.

This could be an ideal role for someone who has stepped away from clinical nursing but would like to continue working with patients on a flexible, part-time basis.

You’ll use your familiarity with patients, anatomy and auscultation, together with Medaica’s technology, to guide people through a remote heart exam using our M1 digital stethoscope.

Our customers take a heart exam because they are concerned about their heart health. An important part of the role is therefore providing a calm, empathetic and reassuring experience while guiding them confidently through the examination.

Please note: Candidates must not hold an active nursing or other clinical license as this is a non-clinical role that does not require professional licensure.

What You’ll Do

You’ll meet customers remotely by video and guide them through their Medaica heart exam.

During each session, you will:

  • Welcome the customer and explain the heart exam process.
  • Help them connect and use their M1 digital stethoscope.
  • Guide them in positioning the M1 at the required locations on their chest using Medaica’s standardized examination protocol and positioning guidance.
  • Listen to and observe the incoming signal and Medaica’s on-screen indicators to ensure an adequate recording is being captured.
  • Ensure all required recordings have been successfully captured before completing the session.
  • Provide a warm, professional and reassuring experience, particularly for customers who may be anxious or concerned about their heart health.
  • Document completion of the examination and any relevant operational observations.

What the Role Does Not Include

The Medaica Technician’s responsibility is to guide the customer and acquire high-quality heart sound recordings, not to interpret them clinically.

Medaica Technicians do not:

  • Diagnose or assess medical conditions.
  • Interpret heart sounds or examination results for the customer.
  • Provide medical advice or nursing care.

Clinical review, interpretation and medical decision-making are performed separately by appropriately qualified healthcare professionals.

Who We’re Looking For

This position may be particularly suited to a retired or former nurse who combines healthcare experience with excellent people skills and is comfortable with technology.

We’re looking for someone who:

  • Has excellent interpersonal skills and genuinely enjoys working with people.
  • Is warm, empathetic and reassuring, particularly when dealing with customers who may be concerned or anxious about their heart health.
  • Communicates clearly and patiently, including with older customers or people who may be less comfortable with technology.
  • Is not fazed by technology and is comfortable using computers, video calls, web applications and connected devices.
  • Has previous experience with auscultation and is comfortable locating standard heart auscultation positions.
  • Is dependable, organized and comfortable working independently from home.

Experience as a medical assistant, cardiovascular technician or in another healthcare role involving patient interaction and auscultation may also be suitable.

Position Details

Recruiting title: Retired Nurse – Remote Heart Exam Technician
Position: Medaica Technician

Schedule: Flexible, based on scheduled customer heart exams

Medaica provides training on the M1 digital stethoscope, Medaica software.

If you’ve retired from nursing or another hands-on healthcare role but miss working with patients and you’re comfortable embracing new technology this is an opportunity to put that experience to use in a new kind of remote healthcare role.

Company Description

Medaica is a medical-intelligence company focused on eradicating preventable heart and lung deaths. The Company's platform is FDA-cleared for consumer and provider use and now sits at the commercialization inflection point. Preventable cardiopulmonary deaths claim more lives each year than any other condition; not because care isn’t available, but because detection arrives too late. A low-cost sensor paired with AI-driven cardiopulmonary diagnostics tackles one of healthcare’s largest unmet needs: earlier, simpler detection that prevents deaths.
