Client company located in central Kentucky (Springfield area) has asked me to scout for a Weld Engineer II candidate. Excellent global company with great benefits including a nice PTO plan offering 3 day weekends periodically through the summer months. Candidate must have Bachelor's degree in Engineering (preferably in Welding or Metallurgical).
Essential Functions:
· Support production & engineering with product launches
· Assist in managing projects that will affect the organization
· Evaluate new product concepts and designs and provide input regarding manufacturability and cost.
· Evaluate existing product designs/processes and make improvements regarding cost and quality
· Perform conceptual process definition for new products to evaluate design alternatives.
· Design, procurement, and implementation of fabrication, welding, and assembly systems, including all necessary documentation.
· Perform manufacturing/product cost analysis and capacity evaluation.
· Design, procurement, and implementation of fabrication, welding, and assembly systems, including all necessary documentation.
· Assist in managing and maintaining welding process control activities for robotic GMAW Systems.
· Design and development of fabrication processes to support product demands.
· Assist in Managing the A.P.Q.P. process associated with launching new processes.
· Installation and launch of new production processes into various manufacturing facilities.
· Assurance that all applicable quality and safety standards met for new and existing products.
· Perform failure analysis on prototype fabrications.
Requirements
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Engineering required, welding or metallurgical preferred.
· Metallurgical/material science experience preferred.
· Experience in manufacturing facility preferred.
· Experience in welding procedure specification development preferred.
· Experience with process development and A.P.Q.P. preferred
· Experience in justification and procurement of capital equipment preferred.
· Experience with Uni-Graphics or AutoCAD preferred
· Experience in tooling/fixturing design preferred.
· G.D.& T and ISO/QS9000 experience preferred.
· Knowledge of D.F.M. practices preferred.
· Hands-on orientation.
