Description
The Housekeeper is responsible for making apartments market-ready and for keeping the office, laundry rooms, common areas and models neat and sparkling clean. As part of the maintenance staff, the Housekeeper assists with the general upkeep of the apartment community and shares responsibility for its appearance and safety.
Requirements
Required Education, Experience, Knowledge & Skills:
1. High school diploma or G.E.D.
2. Previous housekeeping experience is preferred.
3. Ability to work effectively with persons of varied ethnic, social and cultural backgrounds.
Essential Job Functions:
1. Cleans and freshens vacant apartment units including ovens, refrigerators, light fixtures, floors, windows, screens, balconies and patios. Cleans property office daily including dusting, vacuuming, emptying trash and cleaning windows.
2. Inspects and cleans laundry rooms daily including emptying trash, emptying lint traps in dryers, cleaning windows and mopping and waxing floors as needed.
3. Inspects and keeps all common areas clean, picking up trash and cigarette butts, sweeping entry ways and sidewalks, and cleaning outside lamp globes and fire extinguisher boxes.
4. Informs supervisor of the status of cleaning supply inventories.
5. Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Physical Requirements:
1. Ability to work inside and outside in all types of weather.
2. Medium work requiring lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling a maximum of 50 pounds. Frequent lifting and carrying of up to 25 pounds.
3. Ability to stoop, kneel and crouch.
4. Ability to ascend and descend ladders and stairs.
5. Good eye-hand coordination with the ability to perform repetitive/continuous tasks according to set procedures and sequence.
6. May from time to time become exposed to atmospheric conditions that could include fumes, odors, dusts, gases, poor ventilation or other conditions affecting the respiratory system or the skin.
7. Possible exposure to toxic or caustic chemicals.
Equipment and Tools Used:
1. Such common cleaning tools as brooms, brushes, mops, buckets, scrapers and knives.
2. Will use vacuum cleaners and their attachments.
3. May use waxing or polishing machines.
