Primero is an Australian-founded company, established in 2011 and rapidly growing in Montreal since 2016. We specialize in the design, procurement, and construction management of mineral processing plants. Primero's mission is to become the engineering reference in lithium processing, and we are proud to contribute directly to the electrification of global transportation.

Your mission:

As a Mechanical Designer, you will be responsible for producing 3D models, 2D drawings, detailed mechanical drawings, and general arrangements in support of project requirements, while ensuring the quality, consistency, and compliance of deliverables. You will contribute to the development of plant layouts, the maintenance of component libraries, and the continuous improvement of design practices.

You will work closely with the mechanical engineering and design teams and contribute to knowledge sharing and best practices within the team, particularly in supporting more junior designers.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Produce 2D drawings and 3D models in line with project specifications and technical standards
  • Ensure compliance with internal procedures and client requirements in all design work
  • Participate in the review of detailed drawings and models, with guidance from senior team members as needed
  • Collaborate with other disciplines to align deliverables with project goals and standards
  • Support the drafting team and help maintain consistency and quality across drawings
  • Deliver work within established timelines, with a strong focus on quality and safety
  • Proactively suggest improvements to tools, workflows, and design approaches
  • Execute tasks with rigor and attention to safety, quality, and deadlines
  • Provide guidance to junior designers and help communicate design intent clearly

What We're Looking For:

  • 5 to 8 years of experience in mechanical design and drafting, within the mining or industrial sector.
  • Strong background in plant layout and multidisciplinary projects.
  • DEP in industrial drafting or equivalent - relevant experience will also be considered
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD; knowledge of Advance Steel and AutoCAD Plant 3D is an asset
  • Solid skills in 3D modelling, 2D drawing production, and detail drafting
  • Familiarity with structural standards (imperial and metric) and applicable industry codes.
  • Experience in an EPC/EPCM environment and/or construction or commissioning phases is a plus
  • Attention to detail, autonomy, and strong sense of responsibility
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a collaborative team
  • Excellent communication skills in both French and English
  • Commitment to quality, continuous improvement, and safety
  • Willingness to mentor junior team members and share expertise
