What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Fresh Freight Logistics Coordinator, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Fresh Freight Logistics Coordinator, you need strong organizational skills, knowledge of supply chain processes, and experience with transportation regulations, often supported by a relevant degree or logistics certification. Familiarity with logistics management software, transportation management systems (TMS), and Microsoft Excel is typically required. Exceptional communication, problem-solving, and negotiation skills help you effectively coordinate with carriers, vendors, and clients. These abilities are essential to ensure timely and cost-effective delivery of perishable goods, minimize spoilage, and maintain customer satisfaction.

What are Fresh Freight jobs?

Fresh Freight jobs typically refer to positions involved in the transportation and logistics of perishable goods, such as fruits, vegetables, dairy, and other temperature-sensitive items. These roles can include truck drivers, dispatchers, logistics coordinators, and warehouse staff who ensure that fresh products are delivered safely and efficiently. Workers in fresh freight must follow strict guidelines to maintain product quality, including temperature control and timely delivery. The industry is vital for keeping grocery stores, restaurants, and other businesses stocked with fresh products.

What are some common challenges faced by Fresh Freight coordinators, and how can they be addressed on the job?

Fresh Freight coordinators often encounter challenges such as managing tight delivery schedules, ensuring product quality during transit, and handling unexpected delays or temperature fluctuations. Effective communication with drivers, warehouse staff, and customers is essential to address these issues promptly. Utilizing real-time tracking systems and maintaining contingency plans can help minimize disruptions and guarantee that perishable goods arrive safely and on time. Building strong relationships across the supply chain also enables coordinators to resolve problems quickly and efficiently.

Foster Caviness Company

Winston Salem, NC โ€ข On-site

Job description

Location: Winston-Salem, NC
Company: Foster USA

About Foster USA:

Foster USA is a trusted produce distribution and logistics outfit that keeps America fed and moving. We haul the good stuffโ€”fresh produceโ€”from coast to coast, and we do it with pride, precision, and a whole lotta horsepower. If youโ€™re a road warrior who knows your way around a big rig, we want you riding with us.

Position Summary:

Weโ€™re looking for OTR Drivers who live for the long haul and love the open road. Based out of Winston-Salem, NC, youโ€™ll be hauling fresh freight across state lines, keeping it cool and on time. If youโ€™ve got diesel in your veins and a clean record, saddle up and letโ€™s roll.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Keep the shiny side up and the rubber side down while hauling produce nationwide.
  • Handle your rig like a pro, from loading to unloading.
  • Log your miles and hours with ELDsโ€”no pencil-whippinโ€™ here.
  • Do your pre-trip and post-trip checks like a true gear-jammer.
  • Stay in touch with dispatch and keep the lines open.
  • Be the face of Foster USAโ€”friendly, reliable, and sharp as a tack.

Equipment:

We run Kenworth, Freightliner and Volvo trucksโ€”top-shelf rigs with all the bells and whistles. These bad boys are built for comfort, safety, and fuel efficiency. Youโ€™ll be riding in style with spacious cabs, smooth handling, and tech that makes the long haul feel like a Sunday cruise.

Sign-On Bonus:

We know good drivers are worth their weight in chrome, so weโ€™re offering a sign-on bonus thatโ€™ll make your wallet grin:

  • $1,000 after 90 days on the blacktop
  • $1,500 after 6 months of hauling
  • $2,500 after 1 full year of keeping it between the lines

Stick with us, and weโ€™ll make sure youโ€™re paid like the road royalty you are.

Qualifications:

  • CDL Class A in your pocket.
  • 2+ years of OTR experience (but if youโ€™re a rookie with grit, holler at us).
  • Clean MVR and current DOT medical card.
  • Know your FMCSA regs and ELD rules like the back of your hand.
  • Self-starter with a strong work ethic and a love for the road.
  • Willing to be out for 2โ€“3 weeks at a timeโ€”home time guaranteed.

What We Offer:

  • Competitive pay per mile, plus bonuses thatโ€™ll make your wallet smile.
  • Flexible schedulesโ€”run hard or take it easy, your call.
  • Fuel cards, toll coverage, and maintenance support.
  • Rockstar dispatch thatโ€™s got your back.
  • Room to growโ€”climb the ladder or stay behind the wheel.

Work Location:

  • Rollinโ€™ out from our Winston-Salem, NC terminal.
  • Routes span regional and cross-countryโ€”no two days the same.

How to Apply:

Ready to hit the blacktop with Foster USA? Apply here! Letโ€™s get you behind the wheel and hauling the good stuff.
