TRUCK DRIVER
Position Purpose:
Transport of finished goods to and from production departments. This includes loading and unloading trucks and daily safety inspection of tractor and trailers and general warehousing functions as needed. Deliver VELUX products to dealers, homeowners, job sites or inside delivery in a timely and professional manner. This position may also assist customers in stocking shelves, setting up displays, and answering questions about VELUX products. Understand and follow Safety Laws and DOT Regulations. Ability to drive a box truck, tractor w/trailer or tractor w/flatbed having the proper Class A CDL license.
Primary Functions:

  • Drives truck in a safe manner and follows all state and federal laws.
  • Transportation of finished goods from production departments
  • Unloading trucks and stock replenishment
  • Receiving stock into SAP system
  • Routing of deliveries to maximize the most efficient time and stay within DOT Regulations.
  • Drives either straight truck, tractor trailer combination or tractor flatbed combination based on delivery requirement.
  • Prior to departure, driver is required to perform and complete a daily pre-trip vehicle inspection report and report any defects or issues to site Supervisor prior to departing.
  • Loads materials based on the routed stops to be made.
  • Drives truck to deliver to customer's place of business, home or job site.
  • Records signatures on iPad and/or Delivery Note paperwork.
  • Records start time, driving, stopping, breaks and end time on ELD device.
  • Reports any customer complaints to VELUX Management.
  • Upon the return, driver is required to perform and complete an end-of-day
  • vehicle inspection.
Secondary Functions:
  • Reviewing open deliveries with site Management prior to loading.
  • Pick up approved returned items from customer. If customer requests to return other items, driver must contact Management for approval.
  • Responsible for scheduling Preventative Maintenance on truck, trailer or flatbed through leasing company including the cleaning of interior and exterior of trucks.
  • May direct driver helper to load and unload truck.
  • Works in DC in various departments as needed.
Hourly Pay Rate: $23.42 - 29.28
Shift Schedule: 6:30am to 3:00pm Monday to Friday
Qualifications:
  • Must have High School Diploma.
  • Must have a Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL); various equipment including straight trucks and tractor trailers trucks is required.
  • Must have a valid driver's license with no major moving traffic violations.
  • Must be enrolled in the FMCSA Drug Clearing house.
  • Two years' experience in driving a Commercial vehicle using a Class A License preferred.
  • One to three years of experience in shipping and receiving preferred.
  • Forklift driving experience is preferred. VELUX provides Forklift Certification.
  • Working knowledge of computers.
  • SAP experience would be beneficial.
  • A basic understanding of the VELUX product line is preferred.
  • Must possess good communication skills and willingness to work with others.
  • Must present a positive and professional appearance.
  • Must be capable of lifting/reaching/stooping/climbing with weights of up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to perform the essential functions assigned to the position
  • Compliance with all rules of conduct, safety regulations and policies provided in Employee Handbooks, on Company bulletin boards/announcements, terms/conditions of employment or other means of communication is a requirement of the job. Compliance with all FMCSA regulations for commercial vehicles.
