Lead Diesel Mechanic / Fleet Manager (Class 8 Fleet)
SYCS Trucking Company
Location: Conley, GA (Atlanta Metro)
Position: Full-Time
Pay: $30.00–$40.00 per hour (based on experience)
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 9:00 AM–5:30 PM, with occasional Saturday mornings as needed.
About Us
SYCS Trucking Company is a growing FedEx Ground Linehaul contractor operating a fleet of approximately 23 Class 8 tractors. We are building an in-house maintenance program focused on safety, reliability, preventative maintenance, and minimizing downtime.
We are looking for an experienced A-Level Diesel Technician to lead our shop and help grow our maintenance department. MUST be flexible to do road calls and after hour calls.
Responsibilities
  • Diagnose and repair heavy-duty diesel tractors and trailers.
  • Perform preventive maintenance (PM) services.
  • Troubleshoot electrical, air brake, ABS, suspension, steering, HVAC, and hydraulic systems.
  • Repair engines, clutches, transmissions, differentials, and cooling systems.
  • Diagnose and repair DPF, DEF, and emissions systems.
  • Complete DOT inspections and ensure fleet compliance.
  • Maintain accurate repair records and maintenance schedules.
  • Coordinate parts ordering and inventory.
  • Keep the shop clean, organized, and OSHA-compliant.
  • Assist with roadside breakdown planning when needed.
  • Train and mentor entry-level technicians as the shop grows.
Qualifications
  • Minimum 8 years of heavy-duty diesel repair experience.
  • Experience with Freightliner, Mack, International, Volvo, and Kenworth trucks preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of Cummins, Detroit Diesel, and Paccar engines.
  • Ability to use diagnostic software (Cummins INSITE, Detroit DiagnosticLink, JPRO, etc.).
  • Welding and fabrication experience preferred.
  • Valid driver's license required.
  • CDL Class A or B preferred. (to test drive and move trucks around)

  • ASE Medium/Heavy Truck certifications are a plus but not required for highly experienced candidates.
