Job description

Flatbed Truck Driver Construction & Industrial Transport

GET Freight is seeking 20 experienced Flatbed Truck Drivers to support transportation operations for a major steel mill construction project in Donaldsonville, Louisiana.

Drivers will be responsible for transporting 70-foot concrete piles and other construction materials using flatbed or extendable trailers. This role requires safe vehicle operation, proper load securement, and strict compliance with oversize load transportation regulations. (90' concrete piles may also be required.)

Upon completion of the concrete pile transportation phase, drivers may transition to steel cold-rolled coil transportation operations, providing long-term employment opportunities within the company's expanding flatbed transportation division. (Hourly rate may vary by assignment.)

Work Schedule

  • Monday Friday
  • 8 hours per day (standard shift)
  • Overtime available
  • Weekend and holiday work may be required depending on project schedule
  • Due to oversized load regulations, transportation is permitted only from sunrise until before sunset (no nighttime hauling for oversized loads).

Compensation

  • Base Pay: $34 per hour
  • Overtime Pay: Applicable according to federal and state labor regulations
  • Stable work supporting a large-scale industrial construction project

Key Responsibilities

  • Safely operate flatbed trucks or extendable trailers to transport 70' concrete piles and construction materials.
  • Perform proper load securement using chains, binders, and other equipment.
  • Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections to ensure vehicle safety and compliance.
  • Follow dispatch instructions and maintain communication with dispatch regarding delivery status.
  • Comply with oversize load permits, routing requirements, and DOT regulations.
  • Deliver materials safely and on schedule to the construction site.
  • Report on any safety concerns, equipment issues, or operational delays.

Qualifications

  • Valid Class A CDL license.
  • Minimum 2 years of flatbed driving experience required.
  • Experience transporting oversize or overlength cargo is highly preferred.
  • Knowledge of flatbed load securement procedures.
  • Clean driving record and strong safety awareness.
  • Ability to follow dispatch schedules and communicate effectively with the operations team.
