Job description

What you'll do

As an Analyst Freight Cost Auditing, you play a crucial role in ensuring cost transparency, financial accuracy, and process compliance across Scout Motors' transportation network. You will focus on the operational auditing, validation, and optimization of freight-related costs from carriers, logistics service providers, and other transportation partners. By establishing stable processes and driving automation initiatives, you will help create a scalable and efficient freight payment ecosystem that supports Scout Motors' growing supply chain.

Become part of an iconic brand that is set to revolutionize the electric pick-up truck & rugged SUV marketplace by achieving the following:

  • Freight Invoice Auditing & Validation: Audit and validate freight invoices from carriers, and logistics service providers against contracted rates, routing guides, shipment records, and approved services. Investigate discrepancies and ensure timely resolution to prevent overpayments and billing errors.
  • Cost Control & Compliance: Ensure freight charges comply with contractual agreements, transportation procurement strategies, and company policies. Identify cost leakages, recurring billing issues, and process deviations while driving corrective actions with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Process Development & Standardization: Develop, document, implement, and continuously improve freight audit processes. Support the development of governance practices, standard operating procedures, and controls that support scalability, transparency, and audit readiness.
  • Automation & Digitalization: Identify opportunities to reduce manual effort through process automation, system enhancements, workflow optimization, and AI-driven solutions. Partner with IT and business stakeholders to improve freight audit accuracy and efficiency.
  • Transportation Management System Support: Represent business requirements related to freight audit, settlement, and cost allocation processes within transportation and ERP systems. Support the implementation and continuous improvement of system functionalities that enable automated freight validation and exception management.
  • Exception Management & Root Cause Analysis: Analyze invoice discrepancies, payment exceptions, and master data inconsistencies. Perform root cause analysis, coordinate resolutions with carriers and internal teams, and recommend and support corrective measures.
  • Performance Metrics & Reporting: Support the establishment of and maintain key performance indicators (KPIs) related to freight audit accuracy, payment compliance, exception rates, cost recovery, automation levels, and process efficiency. Create transparent reporting and provide actionable insights to management.
  • Continuous Improvement: Support continuous improvement initiatives, financial controls, reduce invoice processing cycle times, increase automation rates, and enhance overall freight cost management capabilities.
  • Additional Responsibilities: Corresponding to your individual skills, you may be asked to perform appropriate tasks in transportation logistics, cost management, systems implementation, and process improvement that are not explicitly included in this job posting.

Location & Travel Expectations:

  • This role will be based out of the Scout Motors location in Blythewood, South Carolina
  • This role requires 4-5 days per week in the office, with regular in-person meetings and events.
  • Applicants should expect that the role will require the ability to convene with Scout colleagues in person and travel to participate in events on behalf of the company from time to time.

  • Experience working with Transportation Management Systems (TMS), ERP systems, freight payment solutions, and reporting tools. Experience with SAP Transportation Management (SAP TM), SAP S/4HANA, SAP Business Network, or similar platforms is highly preferred.
  • Practical experience identifying, investigating, and resolving freight invoice discrepancies, duplicate payments, rate mismatches, missing documentation, and carrier billing disputes.

  • Strong understanding of transportation industry practices, freight billing structures, contractual rate management, transportation cost allocation, and financial controls.
