Job description

Cranemasters is seeking a Car Repairman to join our Richmond, VA team. In this role, you will perform maintenance, repair, fabrication, and welding work on railroad cars while ensuring the highest standards of safety, efficiency, and quality.

As a 24/7 emergency response provider to the railroad industry, this position requires flexibility, including availability for emergency call-outs, nights, weekends, and holidays.

Key Responsibilities

Perform maintenance, repair, welding, and fabrication on railcars to meet safety and quality standards

Prepare and inspect work vehicles, tools, and materials before and after job assignments

Participate in job briefings and actively promote a strong safety culture

Collaborate with team members to complete projects efficiently and effectively

Maintain professional relationships with customers and coworkers

Ensure proper cleanup, restocking, and organization of equipment and job sites

Complete required documentation accurately and in a timely manner

Follow all company policies, procedures, and safety requirements

Skills/Qualifications

Technical expertise in welding and fabrication (AWS certification required)

Knowledge of freight car components, AAR Field Manual, and industry safety regulations (including Blue Flag Law and FRA standards)

Strong communication and teamwork skills

Ability to follow safety policies and maintain a professional work ethic

Ability to read, write, and speak English
