Job description

About Yandell Companies
Since 1945, Yandell Companies has been a trusted steward for the wine, specialty food, and beverage industries - providing complete, vertically integrated supply chain solutions from the road to the warehouse. Headquartered in Benicia, CA, our family of companies includes Yandell Truckaway, our trucking and freight division, alongside our warehousing and storage operations offering climate-controlled and food-grade storage, inventory management, and 3PL services. Because we're vertically integrated, we're agile - able to support our partners at every step of the supply chain, under one roof and one team. Safety, reliability, and genuine care for our people are at the center of everything we do.
Why Yandell?
If you love the satisfaction of a clean, accurate invoice and thrive when things move fast, we want to talk to you. We're looking for a detail-obsessed Biller who takes real ownership of the billing cycle - someone who doesn't just process invoices, but actively hunts down discrepancies before they become problems. This is a great fit for a billing pro who wants to grow their transportation/logistics expertise on a real TMS platform (McLeod) with a team that will invest in your development.
What You'll Do
  • Process and generate customer invoices in McLeod based on load data, rate agreements, and supporting documentation.
  • Review load details for accuracy and completeness before invoicing goes out.
  • Confirm required documents (POD, rate confirmations, etc.) are attached and meet each client's billing standards.
  • Monitor unbilled loads and proactively resolve issues before they delay revenue recognition.
  • Partner with Dispatch, Customer Service, and AR to track down missing information and resolve discrepancies fast.
  • Keep billing records audit-ready and compliant with company policy.
  • Upload invoices to customer portals and/or send via email as required.
  • Support billing-related reporting, audits, and process improvement projects.
  • Stay current on customer-specific billing instructions and compliance requirements.
  • Support month-end close activities tied to revenue and billing.
What You Bring
Must-haves:
  • 2+ years of billing experience, ideally in transportation or logistics.
  • High attention to detail - you catch what others miss.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills; comfortable juggling multiple priorities under deadline pressure.
  • Clear written and verbal communication.
  • A problem-solver's mindset for chasing down and resolving discrepancies.
  • Comfortable with Microsoft Excel, Outlook, and internal document systems.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.

Nice-to-haves:
  • Hands-on experience with McLeod Software (LoadMaster module a plus) - no experience? We'll train the right person.
  • Familiarity with rate structures, accessorial charges, and transportation documentation.
  • Experience with EDI platforms or customer-specific billing portals.
  • Post-secondary coursework in Accounting, Business, or related field.
Work Environment
  • Office setting with prolonged periods at a desk/computer.
  • Occasional extended hours during billing close or high-volume periods.
  • This is an on-site, non-exempt (overtime-eligible) position.
Benefits
  • Medical, Dental & Vision - base medical plan 100% company-paid for the employee
  • FSA/HSA
  • 7 Paid Holidays
  • Paid Time Off / Sick Leave
  • 401(k) with Company Match
  • Company-Paid Basic Life Insurance
  • Employee Assistance Program
  • Additional voluntary benefit programs

Pay Transparency: The anticipated hourly pay range for this position is $24.00-$27.00, based on experience, qualifications, and internal equity. This range reflects the base pay scale for this role and does not include the value of benefits.
Equal Opportunity: Yandell Companies provides equal employment opportunity to all employees and applicants without regard to race, color, religion, sex, gender, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, national origin, ancestry, age, physical or mental disability, medical condition, genetic information, marital status, pregnancy, childbirth and related medical conditions, military or veteran status, immigration status, or any other status protected by applicable federal, state, or local law.
Consistent with the California Fair Chance Act and applicable local ordinances, Yandell Companies will consider qualified applicants with criminal histories for employment.
