Assistant Grocery Manager

Department: Grocery & Health, Beauty, and Care (HBC)
Reports To: Grocery Manager / General Manager / Assistant General Manager
Status: Full-Time, Exempt

Position Summary

The Assistant Grocery Manager plays a key leadership role in the day-to-day operations of the Grocery and Health, Beauty, and Care (HBC) departments at Save More Marketplace. This position is responsible for executing merchandising plans, developing impactful displays, planning end caps, maintaining inventory standards, coaching associates, and helping lead one of the largest departments in the store.

The Assistant Grocery Manager works alongside the Grocery Manager to ensure shelves remain full, displays are compelling, inventory is accurate, and the department consistently delivers an outstanding shopping experience. This leader is expected to set the standard for execution, accountability, and customer service while developing associates and driving sales.

Essential ResponsibilitiesLeadership
  • Lead, coach, and develop Grocery and HBC associates through daily feedback and training.
  • Help create a positive, accountable, and customer-focused team culture.
  • Assist with hiring, onboarding, training, and performance management.
  • Provide direction and support to associates throughout each shift.
  • Serve as the department leader in the Grocery Manager's absence.
Merchandising
  • Execute company merchandising standards throughout Grocery and HBC.
  • Plan, build, and maintain attractive end caps, feature displays, and promotional merchandising.
  • Ensure seasonal displays and promotional events are executed on time.
  • Maintain exceptional shelf conditions, product presentation, and signage.
  • Continuously evaluate merchandising opportunities to increase sales.
Inventory & Ordering
  • Monitor inventory levels and identify out-of-stock opportunities.
  • Assist with ordering and inventory management as assigned.
  • Ensure proper product rotation using First-In, First-Out (FIFO) practices.
  • Maintain organized backrooms and overstock areas.
  • Help minimize shrink through proper inventory control and execution.
Stocking & Operations
  • Assist with stocking Grocery and HBC merchandise.
  • Ensure freight is worked efficiently and accurately.
  • Maintain full shelves, clean aisles, and organized displays throughout the day.

  • Ensure promotional items are stocked and readily available.
Customer Service

Requirements

QualificationsRequired

  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds frequently.
  • Flexible schedule including mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Preferred
  • Previous Assistant Grocery Manager, Grocery Manager, Department Manager, or similar leadership experience.
  • Experience using retail inventory and ordering systems.
