Position Title: Store Manager
Reports To: Operations Management Team
Job Objective:
The Store manager is responsible for Store appearance and Store operation that reflect company standards and image. The Store manager will direct the operation of the store in accordance with company policy and procedures, to maximize store profits, to have a significant impact on store operating expenses and sales-volume. Performs all aspects of store operations including bookkeeping, running a cash register, loading, and unloading trucks, transporting merchandise, stocking shelves, receiving, pricing products, ordering products, and performing inventory audits. The Store manager is also responsible for providing the foundation and guidance for employees to achieve maximum success and personal motivation. Manages the department to ensure an unprecedented shopping experience for customers, to promote sales, and to achieve sales budgets, profit margins, and labor goals by focusing on quality, freshness, and customer service.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Oversee daily operations of the store, including sales, customer service, and inventory management.
  • Monitors sales and inventory to determine ordering and pricing for products.
  • Adhere to all City, County, and State regulations, policies, laws, and ordinances (i.e. verifying IDs for all age-related product sales).
  • Responsible for maintaining overall store appearance.
  • Develop and implement strategies to achieve sales targets and increase profitability.
  • Perform daily tasks that include running the register, stocking shelves, cleaning, etc.
  • Recruitment, hire, onboard new employees. Effectively train, motivate, and supervise a team of employees.
  • Proper work scheduling and use of allocated hours when required.
  • Monitor employee performance and provide feedback and coaching as needed.
  • Supervise and discipline all store employees (and assistant manager) according to company policy.
  • Delegates tasks appropriately and promotes teamwork between store employees.
  • Ensures that correct pricing is maintained, and merchandise is rotated, clean, and in date code.
  • Is aware of and assists with all promotions according to the marketing plan.
  • Complete daily paperwork and computer entry in a timely manner as established by management.
  • Enforce all Safety and Security Issues and report all unsafe conditions.
  • Be available for "on-call" have direct access to a phone when off-duty.
  • Maintain and develop Staples Enterprises, Inc's corporate image and reputation via ethical activities, confidentiality, and great customer service.
  • Continuous improvement through self-development and educational training; attend all training sessions required by law and the Company.

Qualifications of the Position:
  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • Previous experience in retail sales or management is strongly preferred.
  • Safe serve certification required where applicable (or ability to attain).
  • Strong knowledge of merchandising techniques and inventory management
  • Experience with cash register operations and cash handling along with basic math skills for inventory management and cash handling.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational and administrative skills.
  • Exceptional customer service skills with the ability to resolve issues effectively.
  • Lift/carry up to 25 pounds on a regular basis and up to 50 pounds occasionally.
  • Ability to bend/stoop/squat frequently and occasionally for extended periods of time.
  • Frequent use of hands to handle products, objects, tools, or controls and reaching with hands and arms.
  • Exposure to outside weather conditions and walk-in coolers and freezers frequently.
