If you are looking for a career where you can grow, contribute, and be part of a firm that values both excellence and community, PKF O'Connor Davies is the place for you!
PKF O'Connor Davies (PKFOD) is seeking an experienced freelance writer and editor to help develop high-quality content for our clients, prospects, and broader business community. This individual will work closely with subject-matter experts and members of the Marketing team to create compelling thought leadership articles, newsletters, and marketing collateral that reinforce PKFOD's expertise and support the firm's business development goals.
The ideal candidate is a strong storyteller who can translate complex ideas into clear, engaging content for executive and business audiences. This person should be equally comfortable drafting content from scratch, shaping material based on interviews or outlines, and editing existing drafts to improve structure, clarity, tone, and impact.
Key Responsibilities
  • Draft original thought leadership articles, newsletters, executive communications, and other editorial content from initial concept through final copy.
  • Interview partners, executives, and other subject-matter experts to capture their insights, perspectives, and technical knowledge.
  • Turn interviews, presentations, research, notes, and rough outlines into polished, publication-ready content.
  • Edit and rewrite content for clarity, organization, accuracy, consistency, grammar, and alignment with PKFOD's brand voice.
  • Develop marketing collateral, including service descriptions, brochures, one-pagers, case studies, website copy, email campaigns, and event materials.
  • Create content that makes complex accounting, tax, advisory, financial, regulatory, and business topics accessible to a range of audiences.
  • Adapt messaging and tone for different industries, service areas, formats, and communication channels.
  • Conduct research and fact-checking as needed, using reliable and current sources.
  • Incorporate feedback from multiple stakeholders while maintaining a clear and cohesive narrative.
  • Manage assignments independently, meet agreed-upon deadlines, and communicate proactively regarding project status and questions.
  • Follow applicable editorial, branding, confidentiality, and compliance guidelines.

Qualifications
  • Must be able to work in-office a minimum of 3 days per week.
  • Demonstrated professional experience writing and editing thought leadership, executive communications, newsletters, and marketing content.
  • Exceptional writing, editing, interviewing, and storytelling skills.
  • Ability to draft sophisticated content from scratch with limited direction.
  • Strong judgment and the ability to identify the most compelling message, angle, and structure for a piece.
  • Experience translating technical or complex subject matter into clear, engaging language.
  • Excellent attention to detail, including grammar, style, accuracy, and consistency.
  • Ability to manage multiple assignments, stakeholders, and deadlines.
  • Comfortable working independently in a remote, freelance environment.
  • Bachelor's degree in journalism, communications, marketing, English, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.

Preferred Experience
  • Experience writing for accounting, financial services, professional services, consulting, legal, or other business-to-business organizations.
  • Familiarity with topics such as tax, audit, accounting, risk, compliance, cybersecurity, transaction advisory, wealth management, or business strategy.
  • Experience writing for senior executives, business owners, boards, and other professional audiences.
  • Knowledge of AP style, content marketing principles, and search engine optimization best practices.
  • Experience collaborating with marketing, public relations, design, digital, and business development teams.

Engagement Details
This is a freelance, project-based opportunity. The volume and timing of assignments may vary based on business needs. The writer will collaborate remotely with PKFOD's Marketing team and subject-matter experts.
