Job description

Job Overview

North County Screens is hiring a part-time Window Screen Technician to help build, repair, and rescreen window and door screens out of our clean, well-organized warehouse in Carlsbad.

This is a hands-on position that is ideal for someone who is reliable, detail-oriented, comfortable using tools, and looking for flexible part-time work. The schedule can be during the day or in the evening depending on your availability and the daily workload.

This is a great opportunity for someone looking for a second job, supplemental income, or flexible hands-on work in a nice warehouse environment.


Responsibilities

Responsibilities include:

  • Building new window screens
  • Rescreening existing window screens
  • Rescreening sliding screen doors
  • Rescreening swinging screen doors
  • Replacing wheels/rollers on sliding screen doors
  • Measuring and cutting screen frame material
  • Using screen mesh, spline, rollers, and basic shop tools
  • Accurately measuring materials with a tape measure
  • Using tools such as a miter saw and basic hand tools
  • Keeping the work area clean, organized, and safe
  • Completing assigned screen work efficiently and accurately


Qualifications

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience making or repairing window screens is a plus, but not required
  • Comfortable using a miter saw, tape measure, and basic hand tools
  • Ability to measure accurately and pay attention to detail
  • Reliable and able to work independently
  • Comfortable with hands-on production or light fabrication work
  • Good communication about schedule and availability
  • Prior experience in screen repair, warehouse work, construction, handyman work, fabrication, or similar hands-on work is helpful

Schedule

This is a part-time position with flexible hours. Hours will vary depending on the number of screens that need to be completed each day or week.

Compensation

This position pays hourly plus a production bonus based on the number of screens completed.


Work Environment

The position is based out of our nice warehouse in Carlsbad. The workspace is clean and organized, and employees have access to a small gym.

The ideal candidate is someone who enjoys hands-on work, takes pride in doing things correctly, and can work efficiently without constant supervision. Prior window screen experience is ideal, but we are happy to train someone who is dependable, mechanically inclined, and comfortable using tools.
