Visual Communications Designer / Presentation Designer

Location - Remote and Onsite Thrice a week --- Pensacola, FL / Winchester, VA

Duration : 6 months with possible extensions

Compensation*

Rate : $35 to $40/hr on W2

*This is the targeted compensation range for this role per hour. Please note that this range is provided as a guideline and the final offer will be based on several factors, including but not limited to, skillset and competencies, level of experience, education, certifications, and location.

The Visual Experience Design Contractor will support the Visual Experience Design team by providing design and visualization services across analytics, reporting, and executive communication deliverables. The role will focus on lower-complexity, high-volume work including report formatting, visual updates, presentation development, graphics creation, dashboard enhancements, and usability improvements. The contractor will partner with analysts, program managers, and business stakeholders to ensure reporting products meet established visual and usability standards. This role will help maintain service levels and reduce backlog while enabling the Visual Experience Design team to focus on strategic initiatives, innovation efforts, executive reporting, QBR development, Strategic Conference support, and other high-impact organizational priorities.

To conceive visual design solutions to complex product initiatives through composition, typography and interaction models, keep deliverables engaging and on-brand, and drive cross channel projects. Works on moderately complex projects with minimal risk. Participates in the creation and evolution of visual experience design strategy. Works independently with direct guidance and direction from higher level staff and management. Assist in leading moderately complex/varied tasks with moderate impact and moderate latitude.

โ€ข Optimize the user experience through creating visual on-brand compositions that drive improved experiences

โ€ข Influence team members and business partners, explaining the impact of designing/developing with the end user in mind

โ€ข Collaborate with project teams to define the visual identity

โ€ข Participate in assisting in defining user experience goals through visual engagement

โ€ข Participate in design and implement user-centered deliverables

โ€ข Document project specification requirements for developers

โ€ข Operate within the right Design Thinking methodology based on the product, channel, audience, and the application requirements or workflow

โ€ข Create and apply visual design styles and best practices, such as composition, color theory, accessibility and typography, and guides the team in their use through style guide creation

โ€ข Create prototypes for testing to ensure design meets business and user objectives

โ€ข Recommend user experience improvement opportunities

โ€ข Ensure design solutions remain engaging to the customer

โ€ข Maintain and monitor solution effectiveness

โ€ข Participate in acting as stakeholder in development, testing and implementation of UX design projects

โ€ข Participate in assisting with managing multiple projects under tight deadlines across a broad variety of product categories and audiences

โ€ข Proactively draw out user experience or design issues and successfully address those issues to ensure projects stay on track to meet interim project milestones, project time/scope/quality/funding expectations

โ€ข Perform as a project team member, owning UX deliverables throughout Development Lifecycle for multiple projects within various phases

โ€ข Ensure that the IT deliverables meet design expectations

โ€ข Remain abreast of emerging technologies, and industry best practices and trends

โ€ข Perform other related duties as assigned

Qualifications:

โ€ข Familiarity with UX design principles and ability to apply them

โ€ข Familiarity with design fundamentals, such as color theory, typography and composition

โ€ข Knowledge of interaction design, visual design, and industry standards

โ€ข Knowledge of user centered design processes and best practices

โ€ข Knowledge of modern development standards, techniques and methodologies (e.g., HTML, XHTML, AJAX, JavaScript, CSS, etc.)

โ€ข Ability to learn and apply new technologies to usability and design challenges

โ€ข Exposure to managing multiple priorities independently and/or in a team environment to achieve goals

โ€ข Exposure to performing analysis of business processes and functions

โ€ข Familiarity with project management to include establishing and leading project teams; managing timelines/deadlines/resources; ensuring successful project implementation
