Do you love making kids laugh, asking “What if?”, and turning science into an unforgettable experience?
Mad Science of Long Island is looking for fun, energetic, and outgoing STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) Educators to bring exciting science experiments to children across Nassau and Suffolk Counties. If you’re looking for a flexible part-time job where you can be silly, inspire young minds, and get paid to have fun, this could be the perfect fit.
What You’ll Do
  • Perform & Teach: Lead fun, interactive, 1-hour STEM workshops and hands-on science demonstrations for preschool and elementary-aged children.
  • Bring the Energy: Use humor, enthusiasm, personality, and a little silliness to keep kids engaged and excited about science.
  • Travel: Pick up workshop kits from our office in East Meadow, NY, then travel to schools, camps, community centers, and other assigned locations throughout Long Island.
  • Set Up & Clean Up: Arrive on time, efficiently set up your workshop, deliver an amazing experience, and leave the space clean and organized.
  • Inspire: Turn science concepts into hands-on experiences that kids will remember long after the workshop ends.
What We’re Looking For
  • Experience with Kids is a MUST: You have experience working with preschool or elementary-aged children in an interactive setting. Teaching, tutoring, camp counseling, childcare, coaching, theater, or youth programs are all great backgrounds.
  • The “WOW” Factor: You’re outgoing, personable, energetic, and comfortable being animated and a little silly in front of a group of kids.
  • Reliable Transportation: You have a dependable vehicle capable of transporting a medium-sized workshop kit.
  • Willingness to Travel: You’re able to drive throughout Nassau and Suffolk Counties to service assigned workshops.
  • Reliability: You show up on time, prepared, enthusiastic, and ready to make science fun.
Training & Support — No Science Degree Required
  • You don’t need to be a scientist to be a great Mad Science Instructor.
  • We provide paid, on-the-job training and teach you everything you need to know to deliver our workshops using established, easy-to-follow curriculum and activities.
  • Plus, you’ll receive a Mad Science Lab Coat, so you’ll look the part from day one.
Hours & Flexibility
  • This is a part-time position, approximately 2–5 days per week.
  • Typical workshop availability is 2:30 PM–5:30 PM, with some flexibility depending on scheduling and workshop needs.
  • This position is especially well-suited for students, teachers, actors, performers, camp counselors, freelancers, retirees, or anyone looking for rewarding supplemental income.
  • Because our workshops are scheduled around school calendars, camps, and events, weekly hours may fluctuate.
Please note: This is a part-time position and is not intended for someone seeking a fixed 40-hour workweek.
Pay & Perks
  • Approximately $33/hour
  • Gas compensation provided for travel to Suffolk County
  • Paid training
  • Free uniform
  • Flexible part-time schedule
  • Fun, active work environment
  • Make a real impact on the next generation of curious minds
