Job description

Marketing Designer (Brand, Print, Digital + Email Systems)

Freelance | Counseling Works

We are seeking a versatile Marketing Designer to support a growing multi-location private therapy practice. This role blends hands-on creative design work with brand system development and email marketing support.

The ideal candidate is both a strong visual designer and a systems thinker-someone who can execute high-quality marketing materials while also helping build reusable design and email frameworks that allow our internal team to scale content efficiently.

~10 hours/month freelance role, flexible based on campaign needs.

What You'll Do

  • Design marketing materials in Adobe + Canva (flyers, social ads, business cards, event materials)
  • Maintain and expand brand guidelines into reusable design templates and systems
  • Build and support Mailchimp email templates with modular sections (spotlights, resources, CTAs, announcements)
  • Ensure all designs are consistent, polished, and aligned with clinical/brand standards
  • Support campaign creative across print, digital, and email channels

What We're Looking For

  • Strong Adobe Suite experience (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign preferred)
  • Canva experience for building editable templates
  • Strong understanding of layout, typography, and visual hierarchy
  • Ability to balance creativity with structured, system-based design thinking
  • Experience working across print and digital formats

Strongly Preferred

  • Experience with Mailchimp or similar email platforms (Klaviyo, HubSpot, etc.)
  • Experience building reusable email templates and modular email systems
  • Understanding of mobile-first design principles for email
  • Experience creating scalable design systems (not just one-off assets)
  • Comfort working in both creative execution and structured system building =

Work Style & Turnaround

This is a structured freelance role with a primarily planned workflow and occasional time-sensitive needs.

  • Most work follows a predictable weekly cadence aligned with campaigns and office needs
  • Typical turnaround is 2-4 business days depending on complexity
  • Occasional urgent or time-sensitive requests may arise (e.g., events or last-minute updates), communicated as early as possible
  • Planning is generally proactive, with occasional reactive support needed to meet business or clinical scheduling needs

What Success Looks Like

  • Marketing materials are consistent, polished, and efficient to produce
  • Brand assets are reusable instead of rebuilt each time
  • Email marketing shifts from custom design to template-based execution
  • Internal team can plug content into systems with minimal design dependency
  • Overall marketing production becomes faster, more scalable, and more consistent
  • Clear, consistent communication and dependable follow-through
  • Proactive contribution of ideas to improve templates and workflows
  • Strong collaboration with internal marketing team

Why This Role Exists

We are transitioning from a design-heavy, one-off production workflow into a scalable marketing system. This role is critical in helping us maintain high-quality creative output while building reusable brand and email systems that improve efficiency, consistency, and performance over time.
