Senior Telecom Technician - Outside Plant (OSP) | Subsea Fiber | Cable Landing Station Operations

Our mission is to develop and operate world-class cable landing stations, terrestrial fiber backhaul systems, and related telecommunications infrastructure that supports global connectivity and network resilience.

As we move into the implementation phase of our Westport, Washington landing location, and expand our North American footprint, we are seeking an experience telecommunications executive to lead our operational strategy and execution.

Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced Senior Telecom Technician to support the planning, construction, operation, and maintenance of terrestrial and subsea fiber optic infrastructure and subsea cable landing stations. This is a hands-on technical leadership role responsible for ensuring the reliability of outside plant networks while supporting construction projects, contractor oversight, and operational readiness.

The ideal candidate has a strong background in outside plant fiber networks, field construction, and fiber optic systems, along with exposure to subsea cable systems and cable landing station operations. This position offers significant career growth, with the opportunity to develop into an Operations Manager role as responsibilities expand.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform and oversee installation, testing, troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance of outside plant (OSP) fiber optic infrastructure.
  • Coordinate and manage field construction activities to ensure projects are completed safely, on schedule, and to quality standards.
  • Support the operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of fiber transmission equipment, including In-Line Amplifiers (ILAs) and related network infrastructure.
  • Perform or oversee fiber optic splicing, testing, and restoration activities.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain Outside Plant operational procedures, maintenance procedures, and standard operating practices.
  • Support procurement activities, contractor selection, contractor oversight, and vendor management.
  • Coordinate field personnel and contractors during maintenance windows, construction projects, and emergency restoration activities.
  • Assist with permitting, rights-of-way, franchise agreements, and regulatory coordination as required.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams on OSP network planning, fiber route development, and infrastructure improvements.
  • Support design reviews and provide field input for fiber optic network expansions and upgrades.
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams including engineering, operations, permitting, environmental compliance, and project management.
  • Support the development of Cable Landing Station (CLS) operations and maintenance capabilities as company operations expand.
  • Participate in customer design calls and other activities to meet customer requirements.
  • Participate in on-call support and emergency restoration activities as required.
Required Qualifications
  • 10+ years of experience in telecommunications with significant experience in Outside Plant (OSP) fiber optic networks.
  • Experience with fiber optic splicing, OTDR testing, fiber characterization, troubleshooting, and restoration.
  • Experience with optical transmission systems and In-Line Amplifier sites (ILAs).
  • Experience managing on-site construction activities and coordinating contractors.
  • Experience with procurement, contractor management, and vendor coordination.
  • Familiarity with permitting processes, rights-of-way, and franchise agreements.
  • Experience creating and maintaining OSP operations, maintenance, and standard operating procedures.
  • Understanding of OSP fiber design principles with some experience in fiber route planning or network design.
  • Some experience working with subsea fiber optic cable systems or cable landing infrastructure.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills with experience coordinating multiple workstreams and field activities.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively across engineering, operations, and project teams.
  • Ability to work on-site in Westport, Washington, including periodic assignments lasting several weeks.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience supporting terrestrial and/or subsea cable installation, maintenance, or repair activities.
  • Experience with Cable Landing Station (CLS) operations and maintenance.
  • Experience leading small technical teams or supervising field personnel.
  • Project management experience within telecommunications infrastructure projects.
  • Familiarity with safety programs, construction compliance, and quality assurance processes.

Salary will be dependent on experience. This role will report to the President of Sealink Networks or the Senior Program Manager - Network Infrastructure.
