Job description

Staff Civil Engineer — Shape the Ground Beneath a Clean Energy Giant

McCarran, NV (Tahoe Reno Industrial Center) | Full-Time | $125,000 – $165,000

The Opportunity

Before any factory rises, someone has to master the site — grading, drainage, roadways, utilities, and everything between. Our client, a rapidly scaling clean energy innovator, is hiring a Staff Civil Engineer as a senior individual contributor to independently deliver civil design across battery manufacturing, recycling, and BESS infrastructure projects. You'll run your projects through every phase — planning, design, bid, construction — and stamp the work that makes a world-class industrial campus possible.

Why You'll Love It

  • Senior IC autonomy: Independent ownership of civil deliverables, start to finish
  • Mega-site scale: Sitewide campus infrastructure, plant projects, and off-site BESS deployments
  • Consultant leadership: Direct external engineering firms on scope, budget, and deliverables
  • Nevada advantage: No state income tax, minimal travel (up to 10% between Nevada sites)

What You'll Do

  • Manage multiple civil projects through planning, design, bid, and construction — sitewide infrastructure, plant projects, and off-site BESS deployments
  • Independently produce construction documents, drawings, specifications, narratives, and calculations per IBC, ASCE 7, and local requirements
  • Communicate needs, changes, schedule, and status across internal and external teams
  • Review vendor, engineer, and architect drawings; drive coordination across structural, mechanical, electrical, fire protection, and I&C
  • Manage external civil consultants — scope, deliverables, budget — through project completion
  • Perform constructability reviews, support permitting and AHJ coordination, and resolve civil RFIs and field changes
  • Ensure compliance with engineering processes, codes, and regulatory and safety requirements

What You'll Bring

  • BS in Civil Engineering or related (advanced degree preferred)
  • Registered PE; Nevada licensure required or obtainable via comity within 2 months
  • 5+ years designing and building high-tech/industrial infrastructure (semiconductor, solar, battery, manufacturing) or BESS deployments
  • Design depth in stormwater management (flood control and water quality), SWPPPs, heavy civil, wastewater, and industrial construction
  • Site development experience — roadways, grading, pavements, sanitary sewer, storm drainage, domestic and fire water mains, erosion/sediment control, traffic plans
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and hydrology/stormwater software
  • Working knowledge of IBC, ASCE 7, and NFPA, with the ability to quickly research local jurisdictional requirements
  • Ability to conduct, document, and stamp calculations and design packages
  • Skill juggling concurrent projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment
