Job Overview:
AIMS Locum Tenens is seeking experienced Registered Nurses (RNs) to support outpatient care for military beneficiaries at Marine Corps Base Quantico. The RNs will deliver expert pediatric and ambulatory care, including health assessments, patient education, emergency response, and coordination with multidisciplinary healthcare teams. These roles involve working in a fast-paced environment and require recent pediatric and clinic-based experience.
General Duties:
  • Deliver services within scope of granted clinical privileges.
  • Maintain productivity standards aligned with peers.
  • Participate in peer reviews and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Follow safety and infection control protocols.
  • Act swiftly and effectively in emergency situations.
  • Maintain professional accountability and awareness of legal issues.
  • Attend required training and continuing education.
  • Document patient care accurately using systems such as CHCS, AHLTA, or MHS Genesis.
  • Collaborate with the healthcare team to ensure seamless patient care.
  • Supervise and delegate tasks to support staff where applicable.
Specific Duties:
  • Coordinate Care: Work with physicians and specialists to create patient-centered care plans.
  • Assessments & Exams: Conduct physical exams and obtain patient histories.
  • Patient Education: Counsel patients and families on health promotion and care plans.
  • Direct Nursing Interventions: Administer medications, perform wound care, and respond to adverse symptoms or emergencies.
  • Leadership: Assign patient care responsibilities based on team members scope and skill levels.
  • Technology Use: Utilize electronic health records and clinical software systems.
Qualifications:
  • Degree: Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).
  • Education: Graduate of an accredited nursing program approved by a State agency and NLNAC, CCNE, or ACEN accredited.
  • Certification: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (No other certs required)
Experience:
  • Must- Possess a minimum of 2 years full-time experience within the last 3 years as a Registered Nurse in a mental health care setting.
    OR
  • Possess a Bachelor of Science in nursing degree and possess certification in Psychiatric and Mental Health Nursing (RN-BC).
  • At least 1 year of full-time ambulatory care RN experience in the past 2 years.
  • At least 2 years of full-time pediatric RN experience in the past 3 years.
  • Board Certification: Certification in specialty area (e.g., pediatric nursing) from ANCC, AANP, or other approved national body.
  • Licensure: Current, full, active, and unrestricted RN license in any U.S. state.
Skills and Abilities:
  • Strong clinical judgment in both routine and emergency situations.
  • Ability to educate patients and families in understandable terms.
  • Proficiency in using electronic health records.
  • Effective team coordination and delegation.
  • Familiarity with pediatric-specific care protocols.

Schedule:

  • 8-hour shifts within that window
Work Environment:
Clinical outpatient setting within a military treatment facility (MTF). Working with active-duty service members, dependents, and possibly veterans.
Immunization Requirement:
Must meet immunization standards required by the MTF.
