Job description

Job Title: RF Engineering Technician

Job Summary:

This role focuses on installing, configuring, commissioning, and troubleshooting RF systems on operational Land Mobile Radio (LMR) networks, including P25 systems. You will work remotely in the Salt Lake City area, traveling by company vehicle to customer and tower sites to perform field work, testing, and fault diagnosis. You will support internal teams, customers, and co-workers by providing expert technical troubleshooting and on-site service for complex RF communication systems.

Responsibilities:

  • Install, configure, and commission RF sites for Land Mobile Radio (LMR) networks, including P25 systems.
  • Perform end-to-end system alignment to ensure optimal RF performance and coverage.
  • Conduct line-sweeps, RF testing, and verification of system performance using appropriate test equipment and tools.
  • Diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve RF and communication system faults during implementation and on operational networks.
  • Use PC-based programs, schematics, system design packages, and drawings to support installation, alignment, and troubleshooting activities.
  • Provide technical troubleshooting support to programs teams, customers, and co-workers via telephone and on-site visits.
  • Install and service two-way radio and RF communication equipment at customer sites and tower locations.
  • Support the implementation and maintenance of Land Mobile Radio (LMR) and related telecommunication systems.
  • Apply electronics testing methods, including voltage and functional testing, to verify proper operation of RF and electronic components.
  • Document work performed, test results, and configurations to ensure accurate records of system installations and changes.
  • Collaborate with information technology and telecommunications teams to integrate RF systems with broader IT and communication infrastructures.
  • Travel regularly to customer sites and facilities using a company vehicle to perform field service and support.

Qualifications:

  • Hands-on experience with RF systems and RF communication technologies.
  • Practical experience with Land Mobile Radio (LMR) systems, including P25 networks.
  • Ability to perform RF site installation, configuration setup, and end-to-end system alignment.
  • Proficiency in conducting line-sweeps, RF testing, and fault diagnosis on operational RF networks.
  • Strong RF troubleshooting skills for identifying and resolving service issues in the field.
  • Experience installing and servicing two-way radio and RF communication equipment.
  • Ability to read and interpret schematics, system design packages, and technical drawings.
  • Proficiency with PC-based programs and tools used for RF configuration, testing, and diagnostics.
  • Knowledge of electronics testing, including voltage measurements and functional verification.
  • Background in telecommunication systems and information technology.
  • Bachelorโ€™s degree in Electronics or Information Technologies a plus.
  • Experience working with RF systems in either commercial, military, or defense environments.
  • Valid driverโ€™s license and ability to travel to customer and tower sites.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $40.00 - $48.00/hr.
