Job description

  • Position Summary
    • Under the direct supervision of pharmacists, this position is responsible for performing all of the functions of a Pharmacy Technician I when required as well as assists pharmacists with data collection/entry of patient demographics and prescriptions into pharmacy computer; answers phones; checks in and puts up stock. Staff may receive, secure and transport medications as necessary. Checks expiration dates of drugs; operates cash register; runs reports on computer, checks voice messages on refill line and any other assignment deemed appropriate by the Pharmacy Manager. A pharmacy technician II must also demonstrate leadership skills and serve as a role model to pharmacy technician I staff members. Excellent Customer Service is maintained at all times

  • Experience
    • 2-3 Years pharmacy experience - Required
  • License & Certification
    • Registered as a Pharmacy Technician with the Georgia Board of Pharmacy - Required
    • Professional Certification - Required
  • Core Job Functions
    • Enters patient data correctly including insurance and allergies prior to Pharmacists verification.
    • Serves as role model for new co-workers. Assists in training and developing comptenecies for all staff.
    • Fills prescription with correct medications. Places filled prescription next to written prescription and source for pharmacist to check. Accurately bubble-packs SOURCE/nursing home medications correctly as needed.          
    • Inputs correct transaction information for customer payment. Collects appropriate payment in multiple forms (cash, check, credit card or payroll deduct). Makes proper change for customer when necessary. Able to close out register at end of day appropriately.
    • Acknowledges customers upon entering the pharmacy. Addresses issues with customers in timely fashion.  Ensures courtesy and respect for all customers in person or by telephone.
