Job description

About RUM Group Inc.

RUM Group Inc. is an AI infrastructure and video company. Its Quake AI business delivers AI compute as a service, operating AI data centers including GPU and CPU compute, storage, and networking at scale. Rumble, RUM Group's video business and the original tenant of Quake AI, provides creators and enterprises a full suite of video technologies, unlocking reach, scale, and monetization. RUM Group is building the rails of the agentic-first enterprise: the AI compute, cloud infrastructure, and trust layer for the agentic AI future, advancing RUM Group's mission to maximize the power of human imagination. For more information visit www.rum.group.

Rumble is seeking a Senior Infrastructure Engineer (DDoS) to build, operate, and continuously improve the network defenses that protect Rumble's global platform from distributed denial-of-service attacks and other high-volume network threats. This is a high-impact role focused on maintaining the availability, performance, and resilience of mission-critical internet-facing services during adversarial events.

As a Senior Infrastructure Engineer (DDoS), you will work across network infrastructure, routing, traffic engineering, CDN, DNS, and security operations to detect, investigate, and mitigate attacks at scale. You'll use network telemetry, flow data, packet analysis, and automation to develop effective protections while improving the platform's ability to absorb, filter, and recover from evolving threats.

This role requires deep networking expertise, strong operational judgment, and the ability to make sound decisions under pressure. If you enjoy analyzing complex traffic patterns, building resilient internet-scale defenses, and responding directly to high-impact availability and security events, you'll have the opportunity to make a significant impact at Rumble.

Responsibilities
  • Design, build, operate, and improve Rumble's DDoS detection, mitigation, and traffic-scrubbing infrastructure.
  • Develop resilient network architectures that protect critical services while maintaining availability and performance during high-volume attacks.
  • Analyze network telemetry, flow data, packet captures, and traffic patterns to identify attacks, distinguish malicious traffic from legitimate demand, and drive mitigation decisions.
  • Implement and maintain mitigation controls, including filtering, rate limiting, traffic shaping, ACLs, routing controls, blackholing, sinkholing, and traffic diversion.
  • Partner with CDN, DNS, network, systems, and security teams to improve origin protection, anycast resilience, traffic steering, and incident readiness.
  • Support capacity planning for attack absorption, mitigation infrastructure, transit connectivity, and operational failover.
  • Build automation for detection, alerting, configuration changes, mitigation workflows, and incident reporting.
  • Create and maintain runbooks, attack playbooks, infrastructure documentation, and post-incident reviews.
  • Participate in an on-call rotation and lead or support response to active security and availability incidents.
Qualifications
  • 8+ years of relevant network, security, systems, or infrastructure engineering experience.
  • Strong understanding of IP networking, TCP/IP, UDP, ICMP, HTTP/HTTPS, TLS, DNS, and internet routing.
  • Demonstrated hands-on experience with DDoS detection, mitigation, attack response, or protection of high-traffic internet-facing services.
  • Strong understanding of common DDoS attack vectors, including volumetric, protocol, reflection or amplification, and application-layer attacks.
  • Experience with BGP, routing policy, traffic engineering, and mitigation techniques such as remote-triggered blackholing, FlowSpec, traffic diversion, filtering, and rate limiting.
  • Experience interpreting packet captures, network-flow data, traffic telemetry, and service-level metrics during incidents.
  • Strong Linux systems experience and proficiency with Python, Bash, Perl, or similar languages for automation, monitoring, deployments, and operational response.
  • Expert troubleshooting skills and the ability to make sound technical decisions under pressure during active incidents.
  • Excellent technical documentation and verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to communicate incident status to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Preferred Qualifications

Annual Compensation Range:

$132,000 - $158,000 CAD base + benefits + equity (If based in Canada)

$150,000 - $195,000 USD base + benefits + equity (If based in the United States)

Note: The salary range listed for this position is a good faith estimate based on experience, qualifications, and internal compensation structure. The actual salary offered varies depending on the candidate's skill level and experience. This posting refers to an active vacancy within the organization.
