We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled professional to fill the role of Protection and Control Engineer.

About the Role

As a Protection and Control Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the reliability, safety, and compliance of complex power systems. You will conduct detailed electrical studies, develop protective relay settings, and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to design and implement protection and control systems for substation projects. This role spans renewable energy applications, such as Wind, Solar, and Battery Energy Storage, along with stand-alone electrical infrastructure projects from conceptual design through construction and commissioning. This position offers a hybrid/remote work setup.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive electrical system studies, including load flow, short-circuit analysis, arc flash studies, and coordination studies.

  • Develop and implement relay protection settings and test plans to ensure compliance with industry standards and best practices.

  • Design and support protection and control systems for substation projects.

  • Coordinate project design activities, ensuring adherence to schedules, budgets, and quality standards.

  • Collect and analyze technical data to produce detailed study reports and relay setting documentation.

  • Review manufacturersโ€™ prints, perform calculations, and validate equipment specifications.

  • Deliver high-quality, constructible designs that meet client specifications and engineering standards.

  • Prepare progress reports, maintain technical documentation, and ensure project deliverables are accurately recorded.

  • Collaborate with regulatory bodies and project stakeholders to meet compliance requirements.

  • Perform other duties as needed to support project goals.

Key Qualifications

  • Bachelorโ€™s degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET-accredited institution.

  • 3 to 7 years of engineering experience in the electric utility sector or relevant consulting roles.

  • Proficiency in electrical engineering principles, substation design, protection philosophies, and relay settings.

  • Strong organizational, planning, and analytical skills with a proactive approach to learning new software.

  • Ability to collaborate effectively within cross-functional teams and communicate technical concepts clearly.

  • Experience with software such as Microsoft Office Suite, Bluebeam (preferred), AutoCAD Electrical, ARC-GIS (preferred), ETAP, AcSELerator, and relay testing/commissioning tools.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Registration as a Professional Engineer (PE) is a plus.

Key Information

This role offers a hybrid working arrangement, with flexibility for in-office and remote work. Occasional travel for site visits may be required (up to 10%). Candidates must possess a valid driverโ€™s license and a clean driving record.
