Job description

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a SWE Infrastructure Specialist (JS/TS/Python) - Freelance AI Trainer Project based in Netherlands.

This role offers the opportunity to apply deep software engineering and infrastructure expertise to help shape the future of artificial intelligence.
You will work on advanced AI training initiatives by evaluating and improving how models reason about complex software systems.
The position combines cloud architecture, platform engineering, performance optimization, and technical analysis.
You will challenge AI models with realistic infrastructure scenarios and provide expert feedback on their reasoning and solutions.
This is an opportunity to contribute your engineering knowledge to the development of next-generation AI capabilities.
You will work remotely with flexibility while influencing how AI systems understand and solve real-world engineering problems.

Accountabilities

As a SWE Infrastructure Specialist, you will use your software engineering and infrastructure expertise to evaluate, improve, and guide AI model performance in complex technical scenarios. You will analyze system designs, assess engineering decisions, and provide detailed feedback to strengthen AI reasoning capabilities.

  • Engage with AI models on advanced infrastructure and platform engineering challenges using JavaScript, TypeScript, and Python.
  • Evaluate model responses for architectural soundness, technical accuracy, logical reasoning, and practical feasibility.
  • Analyze software and infrastructure designs involving cloud systems, distributed architectures, deployment workflows, and scalability challenges.
  • Assess code quality, testing strategies, reliability considerations, and engineering best practices.
  • Identify performance bottlenecks, deployment risks, failure scenarios, and opportunities for system improvement.
  • Review infrastructure decisions involving Infrastructure-as-Code, environment isolation, state management, and operational reliability.
  • Create reproducible failure cases and provide structured feedback to improve AI model performance.
  • Contribute insights into prompt design, evaluation methodologies, and quality benchmarks.
  • Communicate complex technical concepts clearly, explaining architectural tradeoffs and system-level reasoning.
  • Apply real-world engineering experience to help build more capable and reliable AI systems.
Requirements

The ideal candidate is a software engineer with strong infrastructure expertise and experience designing, operating, or evaluating complex technical systems. You should have a strong understanding of software architecture, cloud environments, and engineering best practices, with the ability to communicate technical decisions clearly.

  • Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field preferred.
  • Strong proficiency in JavaScript, TypeScript, and Python.
  • Professional experience in software engineering, infrastructure engineering, platform engineering, DevOps, cloud architecture, performance engineering, or quality engineering.
  • Strong understanding of distributed systems, software architecture, scalability, reliability, and system performance.
  • Experience with cloud platforms, deployment workflows, and Infrastructure-as-Code concepts.
  • Ability to analyze technical tradeoffs and evaluate architectural decisions.
  • Familiarity with testing strategies, debugging methodologies, monitoring, and production reliability practices.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and systems-level thinking.
  • Ability to clearly document technical reasoning and communicate complex concepts effectively.
  • Self-directed work style with the ability to manage independent technical tasks in a remote environment.
Benefits
  • Competitive contractor compensation ranging from $80-$150 USD per hour.
  • Final compensation determined based on experience, technical expertise, and geographic location.
  • Fully remote freelance opportunity with flexible working arrangements.
  • Opportunity to contribute directly to the development and improvement of advanced AI systems.
  • Work on challenging engineering scenarios involving cloud infrastructure, software architecture, and distributed systems.
  • Ability to apply your technical expertise beyond traditional software engineering roles.
  • Flexible project-based environment designed for experienced technical professionals.
  • Contractors provide their own secure computer and high-speed internet connection.
  • Please note that company-sponsored benefits such as health insurance and paid time off are not included for contractor positions.
