Freelance On-Screen Mechanic
FCP Euro is seeking experienced European automotive technicians and highly skilled enthusiasts to appear as freelance on-screen talent in our DIY and technical video content.
This is a contract-based opportunity for individuals who enjoy sharing their knowledge and can confidently explain automotive repairs while performing them on camera. Projects are scheduled as needed, with the potential for recurring work based on production needs and mutual availability.
Whether you're a dealership technician, independent shop owner, retired master technician, instructor, or exceptionally experienced DIYer, we're looking for people who combine outstanding technical ability with a passion for teaching others.
What You'll Be Doing
Working alongside our Content team at our Milford, CT garage studio, you'll perform real-world repairs, maintenance, diagnostics, and upgrades on European vehicles while serving as the technical expert featured in our educational content.
You'll also help prepare each production by researching repair procedures, confirming technical specifications, organizing parts and tools, and ensuring everything is ready before cameras begin rolling.
Depending on the project, you'll also provide technical feedback that helps improve DIY kits, product information, and future educational content.
Typical Project Responsibilities
  • Perform maintenance, repairs, diagnostics, and modifications on European vehicles.
  • Explain each repair in a clear, engaging, and approachable way while on camera.
  • Demonstrate proper diagnostic techniques and best practices.
  • Research repair procedures, torque specifications, required tools, and replacement parts before filming.
  • Prepare vehicles, tools, and workspaces for production.
  • Collaborate with producers, videographers, and editors to create accurate, high-quality educational content.
  • Occasionally provide technical input on DIY kits and related customer education initiatives.
We're Looking For
The ideal contractor brings both technical credibility and the ability to communicate naturally with automotive enthusiasts.
Preferred qualifications include:
  • Five or more years of professional experience repairing European vehicles, or equivalent demonstrated expertise.
  • Advanced mechanical and diagnostic skills.
  • Confidence explaining technical concepts while working.
  • Comfortable being filmed and speaking naturally on camera (previous on-camera experience is helpful but not required).
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to prepare for production independently.
  • Collaborative, professional attitude.
Preferred but not required:
  • ASE or manufacturer certifications.
  • Experience teaching, mentoring, or creating technical content.
  • Previous work in automotive media or content production.
