Position Background and Scope

Teledyne Brown Engineering has provided software engineering, modeling and simulation, and advanced analytics in support of DoD operational readiness since 2001.

We are seeking a Senior Data Scientist to join our Advanced Analytics team whose mission is to provide insights and solve problems in support of DoD missions and force readiness.

This team provides custom analytic findings and develops, maintains, and delivers decision support capability tools for DoD customers to include administrators and planners at Echelons I, II, and III. The primary objective of the role is to work directly with our customers to identify requirements, develop decision support tools, and support the customer community in their use of the tools.

Position Summary

Teledyne is seeking a Senior Data Scientist to lead advanced analytics efforts supporting Department of Defense healthcare and readiness initiatives. The candidate will work with internal subject matter experts, data scientists, Power Platform developers, UX/UI designers, and data engineers to identify opportunities and to execute and maintain projects of executive interest.

The candidate will work with internal and external (Government) leadership, managers, and technical staff across DoD organizations and develop technical solutions for complex business and operational problems. The candidate will participate in the planning and development of data products, dashboards, predictive models, and decision support tools that enable data-driven decision-making at senior leadership levels.

This is a hybrid remote work position while residing within commuting distance of Falls Church, VA to support occasional in-person meetings. Position will require occasional travel in support of customer requirements.

Position Responsibilities

  • Work closely with customers, managers, and technical teams to define program scope, goals, and deliverables

  • Lead and manage a team of data scientists and analysts to develop long-term analytic products

  • Direct and execute advanced analytics, including predictive modeling, statistical analysis, and machine learning

  • Develop interactive dashboards and Power Platform applications (Power BI, Power Apps, Power Automate) to deliver actionable insights and decision support capabilities

  • Respond to ad hoc requests for rapid analysis to support operational and strategic decisions

  • Prepare and present briefings, reports, and visualizations for senior leaders and stakeholders

  • Provide leadership for multi-disciplinary teams in a collaborative environment

  • Collaborate with other team leads that are geographically dispersed to align and share resources when needed

  • Author and review technical documentation to ensure quality and accuracy

  • Drive continuous improvement of analytic methodologies, tools, and workflows

Qualifications

  • Strong experience applying data science, statistics, and operations research techniques

  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, R, SQL

  • Experience developing data visualizations and dashboards

  • Experience leading analytic projects and mentoring team members

  • Familiarity with cloud environments (AWS, Azure)

  • Experience working with DoD or Military Health System data preferred

Education and/or Experience

Bachelor's degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or related field with 6+ years of relevant experience, including leadership experience. Master's degree preferred.

Strong communication skills with ability to engage stakeholders at all levels.

Possesses or is able to obtain and maintain a SECRET security clearance.

Citizenship Requirements

Due to classified work at the facility and related access restrictions, successful applicants must be U.S. citizens and must be able to gain and maintain a DoD Secret level clearance.
