This position reports directly to the Operations Manager.The Rope Access Technician is responsible for performing inspections, maintenance, and light mechanical work on structures, vessels, and equipment using rope access techniques in accordance with industry certification standards (e.g., IRATA or SPRAT). This role requires the safe access of difficult-to-reach or elevated work areas using ropes and related equipment while carrying out assigned technical tasks. Responsibilities may include Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) inspections and light mechanical repairs, performed safely and in accordance with established procedures, company policies, and client specifications.Rig and de-rig rope access systems in accordance with company procedures and IRATA/SPRAT standards.Perform pre-use inspections of all personal protective equipment (PPE) and rope access gear.Safely ascend, descend, and maneuver on rope systems to reach work locations.Follow all site-specific safety protocols, permits-to-work, and job hazard analyses (JHAs).Complete daily logs, inspection reports, and job documentation accurately and on time.Participate in toolbox talks, safety briefings, and equipment inspections.Maintain and store rope access equipment properly after usePerform assigned NDE methods - including but not limited to Visual Testing (VT), Ultrasonic Testing (UT), Magnetic Particle Testing (MT), Liquid Penetrant Testing (PT), Radiographic Testing (RT), and Advanced Ultrasonic - on structures, piping, tanks, or equipment while on rope access, as qualified.Accurately record and report all inspection findings.Maintain NDT certifications and calibration records for inspection equipment.Maintain current Radiation Safety Training, applicable state Radiation Safety Card, and Trainer status as required for RT work.Work in accordance with applicable codes and client inspection standards.Install, repair, and maintain insulation systems on piping, vessels, and equipment.Apply, repair, and touch up protective coatings, linings, and finishes per specification.Perform minor mechanical repairs, bolt torquing, gasket replacement, valve adjustments, caulking, sealing, and similar tasks.Use hand and power tools safely at height, ensuring proper tool tethering at all times.Report mechanical deficiencies or safety concerns to the supervisor.Assist with installation, removal, or adjustment of small equipment/components as directed.Requirements and Education:Valid IRATA or SPRAT Level 2 certification with a minimum of 12 to 18 months of logged rope access experience; able to rig intermediate rope access systems and perform rescues under the supervision of a Level 3 Supervisor. NDT certification(s) in accordance with SNT-TC-1A or ISO 9712 (e.g., PCN/ASNT Level I or II in VT, UT, MT, PT, or PAUT) if assigned NDT-related work. Valid driver's license and ability to travel to job sites, including offshore and remote locations, as required. Ability to work at heights for extended periods, including while suspended in a harness. Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. of equipment and tools. Comfortable working in confined spaces, adverse weather conditions, and outdoor industrial environments. Must pass a physical examination and drug/alcohol screening in accordance with company and client requirements. Must not have any medical condition that could compromise safety while working at height. Strong safety mindset and commitment to following established procedures. Attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate documentation. Strong teamwork, communication, and interpersonal skills. Ability to solve problems and adapt to changing field conditions.Preferred Requirements and Education:API certification(s), such as API 510, API 570, and/or API 653. Mechanical aptitude and/or experience in a skilled trade (e.g., insulation, coatings, pipefitting, welding, or other soft craft disciplines). Current First Aid/CPR certification. Confined Space Entry training/certification. Previous experience in petrochemical, offshore, refinery, industrial, or marine environments. Demonstrated physical stamina and comfort working at heights.
