Job Description
Position Summary:
Reporting to the Field Service Supervisor, the Field Service Technician responds as necessary to provide major maintenance and repairs on natural gas compression rental fleet equipment within the assigned region. This position partners with manufacturing and field service teams to satisfy customer needs by addressing mechanical and electrical issues during installations, maintenance cycles and repairs as needed. They will champion service excellence, HSE policies and standards, and drive continuous improvement. Field Levels are based on applicants' years of experience and expertise.
Schedule & On-Call:
Standard: Monday-Friday
Overtime: Regularly available; average 50 plus hours per week
*All hours are subject to change based on client needs*
Required On-Call Rotation: (24/7 availability for emergencies)
Weekend Work: Occasional planned maintenance or emergency / on-call coverage

Essential Job Functions:
  • Champion and enforce all health, safety, and environmental (HSE) policies and initiatives.
  • Perform skilled tasks including all levels of maintenance, repairs, and overhauls as directed by supervisory personnel.
  • Troubleshoot and diagnose all levels of natural gas compressor system failures.
  • Optimize compression equipment performance.
  • Stay abreast of advanced natural gas compressor and engine theory and maintenance.
  • Comply with all company and customer safety and environmental policies and procedures.
  • Comply with all other company policies and procedures.
  • Complete appropriate paperwork as directed.
  • Perform duties as trainer when required.
  • Continually hone and develop electronic and computer skills.
  • Demonstrate and further develop leadership skills.
  • Present a professional image.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements:
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S.

Preferred Qualifications:
Experience
  • Experience as a shop mechanic or field service technician
  • General mechanical troubleshooting and repair skills.
  • Working knowledge of oil and gas industry, including gas compression sector.
  • High school diploma (or GED equivalent)
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills for effective interaction with teams, vendors, and personnel.
  • Positive, "can-do" attitude with strong work ethic and the ability to work independently.
  • Effective time-management skills and demonstrated ethical behavior.

Physical Requirements & Work Environment
This role is performed in a field environment and requires the ability to perform the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodation, including:
  • Standing, walking, bending, and working on your feet for extended periods (up to 10 hours per shift).
  • The position involves frequent physical labor, including lifting and carrying heavy items up to 50 pounds. Candidates must be able to safely handle these tasks and perform additional physical duties as needed to support field operations.
  • Performing physical activities requiring use of arms, legs, and full-body movement (e.g., uneven surfaces, stand/sit long periods of time, bending, stooping, hard surfaces, climbing, balancing, kneeling, and crouching).
  • Having sufficient visual acuity to read diagrams, identify wire markings, measure components, and inspect assemblies for quality and accuracy.
  • Wearing required PPE, which may include safety glasses, gloves, hearing protection, and steel-toed boots.
  • This role requires regular travel to and from field locations, often in varied and sometimes inclement weather conditions.
